As much as they loved her in the film, Eva Green will not be returning for sequels. When people die in the new 007 series, they stay dead.

“There is a rumor circulating that she's in the next film,” says the producer. “The fact is that the impact that she has on him in this film may be referred to in the next film, but we're still working on the script. But she doesn't come back to life.”

Yeah, I never bought this "Eva Green signs for sequels" nonsense. And didn't we finally ascertain that the article which first mention this was talking about The Golden Compass sequels, not Bond? Yet the rumor continued.

(Whoops. Maybe this should be in Bond 22 forum?)

Not coming back to life is not the same thing as not coming back for the movie, you know. The speculation about her not coming back for the film at all is likely the person doing the interview jumping to conclusions.

Vesper not coming back to life and returning in a pre-recorded message in Bond 22 are two different things.

Specially as the pre-recorded message may have already been recorded.

Perhaps she recorded a suicide note of sorts for Bond eh?

Okay, so this rumor isn't going away then. :)

Maybe I just recoil from this rumor because the idea of Vesper coming back -- even via a pre-recorded message -- is just SOOOO hacky. Also, I'd hate to give Bond this resolution. She should remain a painful enigma. His only path to understanding Vesper is to find out what she was caught up in, and even then he won't ever know what Vesper might have wanted to say to him in her last moments. Having Vesper pop up on a the screen of the latest Sony product and say "Hello James. I'm sorry I was such an enigma. Just in case I drown in an elevator, let me explain everything to you now." God that would be awful.

But...we'll see. One thing CR has taught me, Eon knows what the hell they're doing. :P

I see where your going there :), Instead of the letter in the novel the producers are bringing it into the 21st century, via webcam.

No, no, no ... no more webcams.

You can be damn sure it'll be a message on a SONY Blu-Ray disc, that Bond plays on his SONY Blu-Ray player, which shows an image on his SONY Bravia LCD TV, with sound pumping through his SONY surround system. :)

In the 60's, Bond matched wits with Golfinger on the golf course. In the 21st century, Bond will match wits with the villian on the golf course...in Tiger Woods PGA Tour for the Sony PS3.

Hey I'm just gald Babs shot down this rumor so early. Vesper may not appear in the film but I hope she casts a long shadow over it.

Kind of a weird thing to say... I mean, no kidding she doesn't come back to life, she's dead.

Would have answered more questions in my opinion if she confirmed whether or not we'd see this pre-recorded message bit with Vesper.

Yes indeed. Seems bizarre that she would have to confirm that Vesper doesn't come back to life!! I still think that a flashback may work well though.

Yeah, I'd rather not see Vesper return in any form--taped message or living. Instead, they should have her presence/memory hang over Bond for much of the film (yet not be enough to keep him from bedding some beautiful women of course. :) )

But this is all so crazy. It's such a study in how rumors start and spread.

1. An article in The Hollywood Reporter says Eva Green has signed on for sequels to The Golden Compass.
2. The article is misunderstood by a movie news site to mean Eva Green has signed for more Bond--and reported as such.
3. Bond fans try and figure out how this can be -- and conclude she must come back via a recorded message.

So now we are suspicious of Babs when she says Eva isn't coming back because she didn't also deny the recorded message.

Guys, Babs doesn't know what the hell anyone is talking about! All she's heard is those morons online are now somehow convinced Vesper is coming back and she’s just shaking her head and answering in the most obvious way. "She's dead. She's not coming back to life. Where does this [censored] come from?"

Look at the START of a rumor chain instead of just the last link.

(Now watch there be a Vesper message in Bond 22 and I'll look stupid. :))

You could just imagine that American, deep-voiced, trailer guy saying that over the top of the Bond 22 teaser trailer.

Closely followed by some Britney Spears bubblegum pop music.

Urgh!!!

Er, she's dead, isn't she?

In the Brosnan "era" we had whether Fatty Arbuckle KGB guy or whatever he was called (can't lower myself to check) was shot dead or only having a bullet-assisted kip in The World is Thing; is this the "new" version of that old game?

The whole of Titantic was done as a flashback. Definitely lots of people want to see Vesper and Bond back together as they enjoyed the interaction between them. But whatever happens in Bond 22, it eventually has to be negative because she is the one responsible for souring Bond's attitude towards women and romance. I actually felt that the way Vesper died in Casino Royale went too far towards vindicating her and its now necessary in Bond 22 to find out more about her duplicity to keep Bond inflamed.

Eva Green really didn't do much for me. I mean I liked the character well enough but I didn't think that there were enough sparks between her and DC. I hope she doesn't come back, whether as Vesper or as another Bond girl in the future.

Perhaps there might be some flashback material fleshing out Vesper's background or something.

Who's to say? It'll be fun finding out!

Do you think Vesper's funeral is also going to take place in Bond 22?

What about a gravestone visit, a la FYEO?
