Amen to that....
I would have liked to have seen "Icebreaker" made into a movie because I really liked the heroine in that book....

I'll have to check out the books again to see if I can spot some more.

I thought I would resurrect this thread as there is a somewhat related thread going in the Bond 21 forum.

Yes, I think a few of his novels might make decent films. Maybe For Special Services or Icebreaker. Brokenclaw was alright , too.

They already have. There is a thread in the Gardner forum in which people pointed out Gardner elements that EON has used for the movies.

Zencat took that information and made a CBN main page story out of it.

It's quite an eye-opener

Top choices would be some of his best: For Special Services, Licence Renewed, Nobody Lives Forever...

One of my favorite Gardner novels - NO DEALS, MR. BOND.

It will be interesting to see if EON develop characters and ideas etc from the Higson books.

Very interesting. To be expected I guess. Had never noticed any of the similarities as I'm not a great fan of the idea of continuation novels. JB was created and written by Ian Fleming. Anything else is just copycatting. But that's just my stodgy view.

Well hardly that Skudor. Gardner once said that writing a Bond novel was harder than writing other characters because there was already established character parameters.

I'm guessing no, looking back on what they've done (or not done really) with the other books.

Which is a shame really...I would love to see an adult Vendetta from Blood Fever.

Believe it or not, but there is a similarity between a Benson book and Casino Royale. I apologize if this has shown up before. In Zero Minus Ten, Bond has a fight of the stairs with men armed with machetes (called "choppers" in the book), which of course showed up in Casino Royale. It's remarkable how many ideas have been ripped off. EON will of course make the smart move once they run out of Fleming material to rip off (only have the book titles left) and start filming Gardner and Benson.

Just a note, "choppers" is the term used to refer to what we call cleavers here in the US. It seems to be what they call them in much of the Caribbean and in India from my experience.

Ah, thanks for the clarification  Either way, though the weapon is different, the situation of fighting off thugs on the stairs attempting to chop Bond to bits is similar . . . or am I just grasping at straws???? B)
