OHMSS by a large margin.

It's a great chase, and interesting in that Tracy does most of the driving, and also Bond gets out to try and make a phone call - something he wouldn't have to do these days, with mobile phones.

All of them are very well made for their time, but from the point of realism and sucking you into the scene, the Quantum-PTS is far above them all. You think you are hit by the truck even when you sit in your TV-chair. Had a few accidents by myself and this is the real deal.

I don't expect a lot of agreement on that chase, but I've never been head over heels in love with the gadget-laden chases. They're cute the first time or two, but there's little suspense for me after that. I still find myself tensing up in portions of the QOS chase (truck incident, jeep rolling downhill, lockup at end, etc.) and that's not let up much since my first viewing. Just me. B)

Which is why the 2CV chase beats it hands down for me. Bond actually driving for his life in a car which shouldn't save him.

Hey, that's awesome that it creates some suspense for you. The tone of the chase keeps me from appreciating it the way I do the other one (talk about some implausibilities!).

I just find the tension entirely ruined by the fact that Bond has an enormous gun which he seems to forget about: he's heavily armed in an extremely fast car- quite why he makes such a meal of surviving is unclear. Why not just pull the gun out to start with/put your foot down? Like most of the Quantum action scenes: bad resolution.

Aw, but it LOOKS so cool!

Chalk it up with the 374 other busted myths from the series. B)

Well, it's a terrific concept, and one I hope they revisit. But it's more goofy than suspenseful, and thus fails to engage on any real level.

My favorite? Probably the exceedingly brief CASINO ROYALE chase. But if that doesn't count, I'll take the QUANTUM OF SOLACE chase. Implausibilities may abound, but it's the most visceral of the bunch.

Still, I think there's room for a future Bond film to really give the Bond car chase to end all Bond car chases.

Yes, but it is exciting (bizarrely the music actually helps here), well-edited and contains outstanding stunt driving. Revisiting would be a bad idea now as Bourne took the concept and improved upon it.
The TND car park scene is similar but probably slicker and with some nice storytelling. The Quantum one nearly works but just doesn't have enough interesting ideas or good displays of driving. The crashes are pleasingly nasty, though.

I completely agree. Every time I see the Quantum Of Solace car chase I can't help feeling that they could have done more and better in a number of cuts and, as a result, ultimately consider it a missed opportunity. The concept was there for an absolutely fantastic, all-time great car chase, but the execution failed mostly due to the editing and shaky cam usage that take away from the viewing experience. Had Marc Forster and company filmed it normally and made a couple of better edit choices, it could have easily been among the series' best chases. Instead, it's just a good, but not great, car chase.

I agree. The OHMSS car chase is so well edited and shot - the car impacts and crunches in the stock car arena really give the scene PUNCH. It's a great, great action seq.

2nd, for sheer fun is TSWLM.

3rd, GE - just wish it had a better pay-off than Bond just pulling the hand-brake and grinding to a stop.

4th, TLD - which echoes OHMSS due to the location and wintery atmos.

5th, QOS - which also has an OHMSS vibe to it.

I'd love to see a longer Bond car chase in the future. Maybe something like the one in The French Connection which I guess is 10 minutes all up.
