Just be very careful when making purchases on eBay, many people would be shocked at the phoney autographs and forgeries sold there. About six months ago someone was selling signed Ian Flemming paperbacks from editions of books published in the 1980's. I had even contacted eBay and the seller about it, as it was clearly fraud, nothing happened. Fortunately no one was stupid enough to go for them.
You're quite right - I normally steer well away from anything that's autographed on ebay, unless it's from a seller I know. As the cost of the book would have near this price anyway, and the autograph looks genuine (looks can deceive I know), I thought it worth the risk - only time will tell mind !

I still find this all very mysterious. Is it possible that Higson flat signed the entire first printing of Blood Fever?

None of the bookstores I have been in have a copy of this book - so where are they coming from ? Perhaps they have shipped early as Christmas will soon be upon us and they wanted to make sure the stores had these on time, unlike the special edition SilverFin !!

It's a bit different than the UK proof: the "skin" backround is gone and there is the bump effect on the letters.
