Excellent news. I wonder, how does 500,000 copies rank up against the other continuation novels?

Seems to be quite good considering John Gardner's Cold had a print run of roughly 1000 copies or less. And of course the Raymond Benson novels really never got the publicity and marketing they should have.

I wasn't going to read any "young" Bond books. Should I revist that idea?

I wasn't too thrilled about the whole Young Bond deal, but the first book was actually pretty good. I say at least read SilverFin.

I assumed you had based on you picking one or the other young Bond novels in the 'this or that' thread...

Interesting; looks like a good move on IFP's part as a result.

Its qualities aside (and it has several; it's a decent read, eventually), I suspect that its sales in the U.K. have been helped not only by the unavoidable Potter vibe but also that it featured in many of the major bookshops' "3 for 2" offers (or the like); something that never seemed to happen to the Bensons (although they may have benefited from it).
