I really do think Evan's portrait graphic should be used officially.

Maybe you could email it to Charlie ( although I'm sure he's already read the article ) just in case he could help in getting it approved.

THAT would give Evan a definite pat-on-the-back.

I was always prepared to give Higson the benefit of the doubt - he was a professional entertainer whose skills had included much successful writing. And a Bond fan. Not a gee-whiz American non-writer and Bond fan.

BUT... not to rain on anyone's parade... Higson does say Bond will stay at Eton for more than 2 halves and that the YOLT obit (its source) not reliable.

Not sure I like the sound of that. Bit like some of the contradictions in Pearson and Gardner.

Dabble with Fleming IN ANY WAY at your peril, Mr Higson.

Great interview. I still have my doubts about the premise of the project, but it certainly looks like they've picked someone who knows Fleming, knows what's at stake, is committed, and so on. I just wish they had someone like him writing adult continuations.

Although, the Scots College I went to was never a "weird, crusty boarding school" either. Only the house mother was weird and crusty.

Congratulations to all at CBn for the interview with Mr. Higson. I'm looking forward to reading Silverfin and hope that it encourages children of all ages to read Fleming. Having said that, Charlie Higson seems to have a light touch and it would be wonderful if the Young Bond series is great entertainment in its own right rather than simply acting as a taster for the "real" Bond.

Me too. Book 1 isn't even out yet and all I can think about is Book 2!

I'm really amazed (and happy) at how many people are saying this, and not just here on CBn, but on UNIVEX, JBaB, MKKBB, and AJB as well. Just goes to show that when you open up to the fans, share info, be candid, heck, even admit to reading the boards, it HELPS in a big way.
