Did you design the 'Young Bond' graphic Mister Asterix?.

It's excellent and should be featured in one of the books. :)

I agree, it's a great image. In fact, it really helps to picture this image in your head when you read SilverFin -- helps get that wimp Harry Potter out of your mind. :)

I don't know...am I the only one who thinks it looks like a cross between Dracula and Wolverine (which must be a bit of a thrill for all the Jackman-backers out there;))?

That's true!. LOL

No sign of a magic wand (I had a 'k' in that previous word originally LOL )and spectacles there at all. :)

I really do think Evan's portrait graphic should be used officially.

Maybe you could email it to Charlie ( although I'm sure he's already read the article ) just in case he could help in getting it approved.

THAT would give Evan a definite pat-on-the-back. :)

Cheers,

Ian

I was always prepared to give Higson the benefit of the doubt - he was a professional entertainer whose skills had included much successful writing. And a Bond fan. Not a gee-whiz American non-writer and Bond fan.

BUT... not to rain on anyone's parade... Higson does say Bond will stay at Eton for more than 2 halves and that the YOLT obit (its source) not reliable.

Not sure I like the sound of that. Bit like some of the contradictions in Pearson and Gardner.

Dabble with Fleming IN ANY WAY at your peril, Mr Higson.

Great interview. I still have my doubts about the premise of the project, but it certainly looks like they've picked someone who knows Fleming, knows what's at stake, is committed, and so on. I just wish they had someone like him writing adult continuations.

Fun interview.

"weird, crusty boarding school" eh? That's fighting talk, that is.

This from a bod who lives in a town in which another bod has decided to stick a ruddy big shark through the roof of their abode. :)

Although, the Scots College I went to was never a "weird, crusty boarding school" either. Only the house mother was weird and crusty.

The next books sound rather good already- I have visions of Indiana Jones-style adventures, and anything with art thieves in it gets my thumbs up!

Congratulations to all at CBn for the interview with Mr. Higson. I'm looking forward to reading Silverfin and hope that it encourages children of all ages :) to read Fleming. Having said that, Charlie Higson seems to have a light touch and it would be wonderful if the Young Bond series is great entertainment in its own right rather than simply acting as a taster for the "real" Bond.

*Hitch camps outside bookshop, realises that Man has invented something called the Interwebulator, goes home, orders book from a jungle-related website and stares at Silverfin website hoping that Charlie Higson is going to knock a screamer into the corner of the onion bag*

*refuses to explain football metaphor to American CBn members*

Good stuff fella, reads well.

If Higson reads all the sites, it does make me wonder whether he read Jim's take on topic? And indeed what he thought of it!

Still chuckle over it to this day.

You'll have folk wondering whether that is similar in nature to "Silverhead", y'know.

Me too. Book 1 isn't even out yet and all I can think about is Book 2! :)

BTW, marktmurphy, I know you'll like this. The "early Aston" he's talking about is a 1.5 litre Bamford & Martin Sidevalve Short Chassis Tourer. Here's a pic for your Bond book cars file.

I'm really amazed (and happy) at how many people are saying this, and not just here on CBn, but on UNIVEX, JBaB, MKKBB, and AJB as well. Just goes to show that when you open up to the fans, share info, be candid, heck, even admit to reading the boards, it HELPS in a big way.

Eon, MGM...are you listening? We'd be happy to do the Barbara Broccoli or Michael G. Wilson CBn Interview. :) :)

Zencat great interview. You have done it again!

I have been pro-young Bond since the announcement and this interview made me breath a sigh of relief because the interview made me truly beleive these books will work.

I for one cannot wait for Silverfin to be out.

I was on the fence as whether I thought Young Bond would be a good idea, and after reading this, I can't wait to start reading it.

A story on another site today reminded me of this interview from last year between Higson and Jonathan Ross?

"Shame on them and shame on you!"

LOL.

Maybe Ross will have to eat his words now. :)
