I would have prefered the more adult looking US cover.

Adult yes, but the blue just seems to be more of an ugly black-grey-blue to me. I can't really pinpoint why, but I just don't care for it much.

I'm wondering what the US paperback will look like. Still no pic on Amazon, and unlike the hardcover, it isn't shipping early.

No, most books released in Australia are printed in the UK. I'll buy it off the shelf because I'm in no hurry.

One a year is good because two a year reminds me of quality books such as the Goosebumps series. :)

Where's the giant US marking push?

It's not in the front of any bookstores, instead tucked away in the kiddie corners. If the store does carry it, only in very small quantities. IFP appears to be dropping the ball in the United States once more.
