Objective: I wanted to find out what somebody in the target audience thinks about the first chapter of SilverFin.

Specimen: My ten year old sister who doesn't really like reading books.

Results: She enjoyed it and wants to read the rest of the book. She liked the premise and gave it a B+.

If my sister is like the rest of the young readers then SilverFin may be popular among them if it is marketed well. She would not have known about the book unless I told her about it.

I suppose that's a good sign for IFP.

But is it a good sign for the rest of us?

Glad she enjoyed it then. I'm still out looking for proofs to pick up. Hopefully this book will be a hit.

An interesting and very telling experiment there, Righty.

Isn't the best person to write a short review for CBn therefore your sister, Chris (rather than anyone who "knows" Bond and the books and will inevitably compare/be beyond the target age group)?

Just a thought. Would she do that? If, as you say, she has no real interest then it will be an uncompromised review. All the rest of us are "tainted" in one way or other.

[I've tried a similar experiment, but as both my boys are working their way through Dr No and Goldfinger respectively, it didn't work.]

I'll ask her to write a review if she reads the whole book when it comes out.
