As posted by Zencat in the CBn Quick News section, amazon already has a review of SilverFin.

"As a fan of Ian Fleming's original Bond novels, I was eager to discover how Charlie Higson would tackle the famous spy's first adventures as a 1930s school boy. Would he be able to produce the same style of page turning adventure? Would the dry Fleming wit be present? Most importantly, would I recognise in this young boy the future hero of millions of people around the globe? Happily, the answer to all these questions is a resounding "YES!"."

The full review is in the link.

Seems to be an enthusiastic start.

Ah, I'm not being too judgemental this early. I eagerly await to read the full novel and not just chapters or snippets to see how it is.

You'll notice I put "customer" in quotes. Feels planted to me...but we'll see.

It's publishers' grubby mittwork, quite plainly. I've written some of these myself and the breathless rhetorical questioning, complete absence of plot detail and uncritical enthusiasm is a dead giveaway. Standard practice.

Ignore, except insofar as they believe they have to do this.

Exactly what I was getting at. It smacks of promotional marketing and I'm sure Higson isn't above it.

After all the screenwriter for 'King Arthur' wrote a review of his own movie on Amazon :)

We're all so splendidly media savvy.

Perhaps the marketing peeps will start to recognise the redundancy of such reviews.

They could have at least thrown in a nice big typo. Maybe Ian Flemming (?)
