Example: I want Bond 21 to be another From Russia With Love.

It's time we had a spy movie again, just as long as it's not a mere rehash or self-parody. And as long as it doesn't take itself too, too seriously or try way too hard...
Those are big shoes to fill....

Seriously, I want Bond 21 to be another From Russia, With Love....sex, brutal, rapidly-paced violence, and sharp wit. Bring it on!

Although, since Campbell is directing, I wouldn't mind another Goldeneye - whatever happens I just don't want another story where there's some kind of personal connection to Bond and villian or CGI surfing.

well a mix between From Russia With Love and Thunderball. Sexy, thrilling, a big action scene and very much spy work. not a Spider-Man in custome movie that Sony want it to be

If there was one past James Bond 007 film you could choose Bond 21 to "be like" (as in style, plot, anything of that sort), which would it be and why?
Example: I want Bond 21 to be another From Russia With Love.
Licence to Kill, OHMSS, or FRWL.

On the screen as well as off it. For You Only Live Twice alot of the regular Bond crew like Richard Maibuam and Ted Moore were given a rest with some new people like Roald Dahl and Freddie Young brought to give the film something different.
Time to bring in a few new folk for Bond 21, keeps things from getting to "samey". I already know what David Arnold, Vic Armstrong, etc can do, I'd like to see what other people could do in those positions, if only for a one off.

I want Bond 21 to be another The Living Daylights
Me too. Unpopular, I know. But maybe this time they could get it right...

I want Bond 21 to be another Octopussy. A good serious plot mixed with bikini clad women, exotic locations and naughty jokes (done in the sophisticated English way of course, not the trash P&W have been throwing out).
Umm, the sophisticated English way?

Do you mean like that trashy post-coitous little exchange between Magda and James when she says "I need re-filling".
Or such as when James asks Q if he's "having problems keeping it up?"
Sophisticated. English. Way. -Sure.
Whatever you say

Go on, try and tell me that those double entendres don't sound like vintage P & W. You and I both know that they are really no more lewd than "big bang theory" or "christmas only cums once a year".
In fact, I'd go so far as to say that the line "I need re-filling" is about the most ribald thing in all of the James Bond films.

but not a panic driven attempt to be exactly like Jason Bourne
Do you honestly think EON is worried about, or trying to emulate the Bourne Movies?
There is no evidence to that, and I really don't think so, is just new Bourne fans who think 007 movies should be like that, but EON? This is not like the time after OHMSS (a fine film, but one that made EON panic, thinking it might end the series) or after LTK (another of my favorites, but that still worried EON, as they were losing U.S. audience).
DAD was very popular and so was Brosnan, us purists might not think that, but to the general public it was. If EON now want a change, is not because of the Bournes of the business, but because a "back to basics" film is the only way to go. Something similar to OHMSS after YOLT, and FYEO after Moonraker; and for this they need a new Bond, new blood, and new life.
To the 007 series Bournes come and Bournes go...
But Back to topic:
I want Bond 21 to be another... a TLD ( a real spy thriller with intrigue), mixed with Goldeneye (a high tech elegant spy movie with cool action), with a dash of the eccentricity of TSWLM. (Without the equal female spy)
Cheers!

Goldfinger (classic villain)
The Living Daylights (realism, get rid of the sci-fi stuff)
GoldenEye (inventive action sequences)
Tomorrow Never Dies (musical score).
All with some intelligent dialogue, witty remarks (not childish innuendo) and more Bond-ness than you can shake a stick at!

I'm hoping for a mix of the best bits of:
Goldfinger (classic villain)
The Living Daylights (realism, get rid of the sci-fi stuff)
GoldenEye (inventive action sequences)
Tomorrow Never Dies (musical score).
All with some intelligent dialogue, witty remarks (not childish innuendo) and more Bond-ness than you can shake a stick at!
good combination!

By the end of the week, I'll give you an example of what Bond 21 should be.
