Collin Farrell wasn't in Troy.  The only rumored Brosnan replacement in Troy was Eric Bana.

And Orlando Bloom. :)

My local morning news show mentioned PB backing Farrell in their entertainment report this morning.

The shows anchors echoed what I've heard and believe as well i.e. - Great, but too young.

Maybe I should head over to the Chateau Marmont and find whatever piece of floor he's laying on and ask him...Just follow the Camel cig butts and empty Guinness cans...I'll get an answer....

Presuming he doesn't wake up and deck me....A Scot and an Irishman...Who knew there'd be trouble?

Maybe Pierce's suggestion of Colin is actually his attempt to undermine Eon :) Come on! Colin freaking Farrell! No thank you :)

Too short and not polished or suave cool.

Come on, people, let's seriously think about this. Pierce was accepting an award in Ireland when he he mentioned backing Colin Farrell. Isn't it obvious he was playing to the crowd? Do you really think Pierce is going to tell a crowd of fellow Irishmen, as he accepts an award from them, he supports an Aussie in the role of Bond? (I don't think so... especially if they've all been drinking.)

Let's not take everything so seriously. I realize, as fans, we take a lot of what is said to heart... but, come on, let's not go overboard. Colin Farrell as Bond? I don't see it, and I'm not sweating it. I am very tempted to start a rumour that EON is seriously considering actor Steve Buscemi as Bond. It'll be interesting see what kind of reaction that would get!

Some months ago Brosnan said he opposed Farrell as Bond and now he for Farrell. Has Brosnan gone flip flop? With all do respect for Brosnan, I think he took many shots to his head and have his brain check. Farrell is not a right actor to play Bond, because he likes to swear a lot on public TV, and he's too expensive more times than Jackman. Brosnan is too bias for betting a fellow Irishman. THUMBS DOWN ON FARRELL!  :)

THUMBS UP FOR JACKMAN FOR BOND!  :)

This is what I don't get, he said months ago, Farrell is a good actor, but he's not right for Bond, why would he change his mind, maybe unless he actually knows the producers have chosen him? I hope not, prefer Jackman.

Pattern: Actor has movie coming out. Actor is named either as Bond or as possible Bond or says wants to be Bond.

This Farrell deal seems to fit the pattern with a very slight twist of getting Pierce in on the act.

Side note: iMDB and Fox News are idiots and need to check their facts on who owns the rights to make a film from Casino Royale.

It's not like Pierce goes out and holds a press conference announcing who he thinks will be the best guy this week to play Bond. (I'm sure he'd rather not talk about who is replacing him.

The scenario is that he's asked questions by the press about other actors and then his quotes are listed out of context to sound like he suddenly is endorsing a "candidate."

Following that appraoch, he's endorse everyone in Hollywood. He's had polite things to say (when asked) about just about every actor rumored to be up for the role from Hugh Jackman to Clive Owen to Colin Farrel and everyone in between, left, right, or above.

The fact is, Pierce knows if he politely says anything on Bond casting it ends up in the press and he has a movie coming out that he wants people to see - so its in his benefit to be in the press.

Hi guys, not posted in this forum since the Glory days of Die Another Day!:)

Anyway Pierce will be on Jonathan Ross's talk show tonight on BBC, in a few hours, and we might get some more feedback on what Pierce's views are on the Farrell issue and the future of Bond in general

Yes it is obvious Pierce was joking about Farrell. It is not going to happen anyway.

Pretty much, but then it serves as rumour material which everyone jumps on.

Farrell would make sense and spell more box office. A lot of chicks would go because he's in it. My own take is that if Farrell is willing to take the role, Eon/Sony will give it to him. He'd do a fine job, plus you'd have a whole new market of women going to see a Bond film. Young women aren't going to a Bond film to lust after Pierce Brosnan or even Hugh Jackman.
