I was looking over the Hyperion website and it looks like a fair amount of their books are illustrated. Gildrose's The Adventures of James Bond Junior 003 1/2 was illustrated. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was illustrated. Do you think there's a chance the 'Young Bond' books will be illustrated? That would be very cool.

I hope not. I imagined SilverFin being a book for adults and children like the Harry Potter series. Illustrations will make it seem really childish. If it is illustrated then I hope Michael Jackson isn't the illustrator. :)

You might have something there Righty. Maybe having it illustrated makes it feel too much like a kids book. But one nice frontispiece illustration would be cool. How do the Potter books handle it? Are there any illustrations in these? (Yes, I've never read them.)

I have read the first Harry Potter book...

If I remember correctly it has a small picture at the beginning of each chapter. I wouldn't mind that in SilverFin but I don't think its necessary.

Righty is correct. The Harry Potter books have one small illustration at the beginning of each chapter. Ususally about the same size as the words 'Chapter 3, blah blah,' etc...

I wouldn't mind something like that, but I'd much rather prefer no illustrations at all.

Perhaps given the target audience the book should come with a limited edition set of crayons so they can illustrate it themselves :) .......or am I being facetious?

While I am looking forward to SilverFin (I'm so easy), I have a feeling the more exciting Bond literary releases of 2005 are coming from Titan. Am I right, Red? :)

I think you're being facetious.

But not without reason.

Errrrmmmm....Yes. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to prejudge this but to me the thought of a young James Bond larking around in a series of new adventures (which will no doubt be inspired somewhat by the works of Mr. Fleming) just doesn't fill me with any kind of enthusiasm. The same is true of the James Bond Jnr. cartoon series. I know it was done...but WHY??
I have great admiration for Charlie Higson as a comedy writer and performer and his knowledge of James bond is impressive but th eprospect of him writing a series of books on the subject just doesn't do a thing for me.

I am curious....curious enough to pick up the first one and make a judgement on the basis of how I feel about it. I think judging something before you have read (or seen it) is rather dumb -- I'm sure you will agree Righty! :)

Not a bad book, one small spelling error, but put together well.

I'd recommend you do so for sure on 003 1/2, Zencat. It's really, for being such an oddity in the literary series, a good read. I was shocked in rather a good way upon finishing it. I expected worse.

I can't believe nobody got my Michael Jackson joke.

That was a joke? Because The Adventures of James Bond Junior 003 1/2 WAS illustrated by an artist named Michael Jackson. :)

I was referring to the pop singer because the James Bond Junior 0031/2 was illustated by a guy with the same name.

Lets drop the subject because you all are confusing me...

You confused me on it. Joke went over my head since I didn't know of the illustrator's name.
