I must say, I really enjoyed this movie from 1992. I enjoyed it even more than Licence to Kill three years earlier. It was for me a James Bond movie in 1930/1940-ies style! And...........Jason Connery as Ian Fleming was very good. What is Jason Connery doing right now actually??? And what about the villain in this movie? He did remind me of Carl Stromberg.

I have seen, and own a copy of, the movie, originally called "The Secret Life of Ian Fleming." Unfortunately,I cannot say very much positive about it. It is a HIGHLY fictionalized account of Fleming's life, ridiculously embellished to make it seem more like a James Bond movie. Jason Connery looks nothing like Fleming and, sadly, cannot act very well. He certainly has none of the charisma of his father. Patricia Hodge fares better as Ian's domineering mother, Eve, as does Kristin Scott Thomas as a fictional paramour. My advice: skip the movie and read Andrew Lycett's wonderful biography of this important 20th-century icon.

It seems to me that it was a blatant ploy to use Sean Connery's son as a draw card to an otherwise underwhelming TV movie.

It's clear that accuracy in Flemings looks and plot content was not a requirement, so a more accomplished actor may have made it more enjoyable. But, I suppose, a good actor can never improve a poorly conceived story or script.

Admittedly this is going to be another obscure British TV reference, but this (ahem) effort was shown last Autumn by Channel 5 on a Sunday afternoon. I happened across a bit of it. Couldn't watch it, complete atrocity.

But that's enough about Channel 5; the film's utter balderdash.

I enjoyed this movie, though it's either not very accurate or all of the other Fleming biographies are wrong. Still, it was kind of a fun movie. Almost a serious take of Casino Royale with a bit of From Russia, With Love.

As for Jason Connery, I saw him in a bit part in an episode of 'Smallville'. (a TV show about the teenage Clark Kent before he became Superman).
