He'd be pretty dumb not to, though surely? I mean it's not exactly hard work and it would pay off quite well. It is pretty much expected to do so I would have thought.

Yeah? When your target readership is in the 9-12 range?

Um...yeah. If I was writing a sci-fi James Bond book or a Wild west James Bond book or a sitcom Bond set in a Torquay hotel, I'd still read some James Bond first. Surely it's the most basic piece of research?
