I'll give Bloom that he must be pretty good at what he does as he's been in some successful projects the last few years. But he's just not Bond material.

I wouldn't judge Bloom on his body; look at what Tobey Maguire did for his role in Spider-Man. I don't think THAT's the problem. To be honest, I just think this man can't act. Ok, some will say Brosnan couldn't either, but wouldn't it be a nice change if they could get someone WITH acting skills?

Bloom could be an inspired piece of casting that would bring in the cash. He is associated with some of the biggest franchises of the decade.

As for being too young, not a problem that good make up, direction and acting can't overcome.

interesting post , Bond Bug! :)

We all are saying Bloom couldn't do it but who knows , with a good director..and in 3 or 4 years he could be a good OO7.

But as for now...I don't know...he's to young for Bond 21.

I'd more rather see Judi Dench star as Jane Bond. A skinny, feminine, teenaged looking, cheesy actor could not for a second pass as an expierenced British officer. Hell, while watching the first, boring Lord of the Ring movie I kept asking myself whether or not that blonde thing was a man or a woman. His acting in the Pirate movie was a joke. Like the untalented Vin Disel and loads of B-grade actors before them, Bloom is only employed because preteen girls have posters of him on their walls.

I'd cast Joe Don Baker as 007 before anybody named Orlando.

Despite the fact that he's too young, he'll just never be Bond material. He always looks very ratty and greasy, and can't act worth a dime. He's like Denise Richards - just eye candy, no real talent there. Seriously, if it came down to either him or Heath Ledger, gimme Ledger any day. At least it seems that Ledger can ACT...

Yes, but I'm sure that when Bond was young, he wasn't the refined, rather smug man that he is in Fleming's novels. Young Bond does not = 007.

We might as well turn bond in to BackStreet Boy because all bloom will attract is teenage girls...

And now the point of my post... Out of sheer curiosity...

What would your reaction be if by the end of the year Orlando Bloom was announced to be the next James Bond?

Not at the current time. I think he is too young. In ten years from now he'll be perfect. This thing about a younger James Bond is wrong. WRONG I tell you. Bring back Pierce.

My reaction: very bad :)

I would still probably go and see the film, but I would have horibly low expectations that I would assume it wouldn't surpass. They would have to try hard to convince me that I should bother with this 'new Bond'.

I'd go see it too, but somehow I would lose a lot of enthusiasm if this were to come true. Which would be sad. Well, it's pretty unlikely, and at least I'd have CBn to rehash the good ole' days. :)

Bloom or Jackman would be my choice, as I want James Bond movies to be as popular as they used to be (ie: more popular than Harry potter!)

I don't like the idea of a young Bond.
If they go through with it (with an origin story or whatever) I'd rather see Heath Ledger than Orlando Bloom, so.....
No!

Bloom for Bond in 2012, but if he was offered Bond now, would he be class enough to turn it down like Tim Dalton did when he was younger, it's just too hard for the public to accept a young man when you picture Connery, Moore, Dalton and Brosnan, it's not engraved in their Bond thinking, it could be too weird and risky..

At the rate Orlando Bloom is going, I don't look for him to be available to do a Bond film 10 years or so down the line. He will be far too in demand and have salary issues EON would never submit to.
