Is this the first time that Bond continuation novels have received the omnibus treatment?

LR, FSS, and IB were collected in a US hardcover edition by Anvel Books in 1987. Anvel released ROH, NDMB, and NLF in a similar hardcover in 1989.

I recall seeing Win, Lose Or Die and, I think, Scorpius put together in a hardback book. I didn't buy it [one of the Gardners I'm missing is Win, Lose Or Die], but I didn't buy it because I'm after the paperbacks.

Is an "omnibus" strictly three or more stories?

That looks a lot more than 290 pages (as listed in the main page article) Zencat!

That's what I was thinking Tanger, I wonder what the print size is this time for the Coronet's.

Could've been this one, actually.

Picked up the omnibus at lunchtime. Somehow, the cover doesn't look so terrible now that the thing's in my hot little hands. The United Kingdom, 28 January 2004: it's possible to go into a bookshop and buy Bond novels by John Gardner - YAY! :)

Oh, whoops! I just copied the info from Amazon (when I wrote the article I didn't have the book yet). The trouble is each book starts at page 1, so when you flip to the back the last page is 250 (of Icebreaker). It's actually 780 pages! I'll change that. Thanks.

That's it! I'm moving to England. Right now!

Well, maybe not.....:) :)

However, it will be on my list of places to someday visit for sure!

Funny thing, I was just going to ask about those. I remember seeing them in a Crown Books store when I was a kid.

BTW, how many of you like the old Fleming Omnibus', the "Gilt-Edged Bonds"? I have several of these and some have cool covers on them

The "Gilt Edged Bond" omnibus was actually my first exposure to Fleming.

It's says 1988...but it was published in 1989 (at least that's what I have in my notes in my database).

i've added a scan of 2 of the "Gilt-Edged Bonds" to the page above. Obviously the one on the left if an ex-library copy and i've yet to remove the protective cover.

Dear Lord! Postman delivered mine this morning and I've just zipped through Licence Renewed. I'd forgotten what a cracking read it was.
Nice to have second copy in paperback I can lend out without having to worry if I'm ever going to see it again.

Have just finished reading "For Special Services" for the first time. Not bad at all. I think it's the best of the omnibus novels.

Did Avenel only do these two Gardner omnibuses?

Do you own either, Dev?

I just picked up a secondhand copy of the Licence Renewed-Icebreaker edition today.
