2) For Your Eyes Only - I've said it before and I'll say it again: Roger Moore IS Ian Fleming's James Bond.
3) Octopussy - "I must have seen that movie . . . twice." - Homer Simpson.
4) The Spy Who Loved Me - It really IS Bond and beyond...
5) Thunderball - How is this movie considered "slow"? I devour every single frame of this epic adventure. Gets big points for Bond using Fiona as a human shield.
FYI: DAD ranks around Number 11 or 12. That doesn't mean I don't like it; of Brosnan's Bonds, only GoldenEye ranks in my Top Ten.

2. Goldfinger
3. SWLM
4. Living Daylights
5. Goldeneye
Carver - we have the same films - just in a slightly different order.

My current top five:
1 On Her Majesty's Secret Service
2 From Russia With Love
3 The Living Daylights
4 GoldenEye
5 Goldfinger
This represents my favourites, rather than an objective "best" list.

Anyway just thought I would update u all on what the Britts thought of bond films and how they are rated.

1.) FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE: Not only classic Bond, but classic espionage suspense drama.
2.) ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE: Great Bond flick with an audacious, if downbeat, ending. Plus it's got the best Bond girl ever: Tracy Di Vicenzo.
3.) (tie) THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH: Don't know if it's just me, but I see a lot of OHMSS in this one. Plus it's got the second best Bond girl ever: Elektra King--Tracy Di Vicenzo who lost her way. Big time.
3.) (tie) GOLDFINGER: The original action/thriller. Great villain, great girls, greatr setpieces, great flick.
4.) GOLDENEYE: PB seems a little subdued and less alive than in later flicks, but it's got Izabella Scorupco, Sean Bean, and Famke Janssen--all kicking *** in their roles.
5.) LICENCE TO KILL: Severely underrated, simply because it dares to buck the formula. And, sadly, it paid the price.
DAD places at around number 7 for me, right behind and FOR YOUR EYES ONLY.

1. Casino Royale (don't ask...)
2. Never Say Never Again (Sean Connery as James Bond!)
3. Goldeneye (the Ian Fleming biography)
4. The Secret Life of Ian Fleming (the other biography)
5. North by Northwest (Cary Grant might have been an interesting 007)

2. TND- highly entertaining, full of action, classic bond. the most rewatchable bond film ever.
3. OCTOPUSSY- really grown to love this film lately. everything just works well, manages to be fun and serious at the same time.
4. DAD- big, huge, entertaining, gives us a sitation for bond we havent seen before, but still gives us everything we want from a bond film
5. FYEO- takes itself seriously, but still is great entertainment. good
story, great bond girl, a nice change of pace.

2 THE SPY WHO LOVED ME... a re-make of lewis gilbert's own YOLT and the pre-cursor of spottiswood's TND...it is BOND AND BEYOND
3 OHMSS...the greatest score...the greatest bond actress...truest to fleming a la FRWL, yet so epic...a gamble of an ending that (at the time) did not pay as it does in retrospect
4 GOLDFINGER...THE PROTOTYPE of all the BIG bonds...great girls...great vilians...great car...connery at his SHARPEST!
5...DIE ANOTHER DAY....everything but the kitchen sink...best of the (VERY GOOD) brosnan bonds...ahead of GoldenEye primarily because the score makes it feel like a "James Bond 007" flick which serra failed to do.
honourable mentions (in chronological order):
FRWL
Moonraker
The Living Daylights
GoldenEye
Tomorrow Never Dies

2. From Russia With Love
3. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
4. The Spy Who Loved Me
5. Octopussy
...my list never changes. For me, it's just definitive...these are the best!
DAD places at #8, just after Dr. No at #6 and FYEO at #7. Formally it was #7, with FYEO at #8, but upon further viewing I concluded FYEO was the better of the two. A similar debate came up with TSWLM and OHMSS, Thunderball and YOLT, and LTK and TND.

But for me, as someone wisely mentioned my favourite list changes weekly.
If I have one too many vodka martinis Casino Royale becomes my favourite (I am with you there "don't ask") and the plot actually starts to make sense, but unfortunately by the next morning I have forgotten my reasoning and I am back where I started, strangley wondering about the signifigance of "hair looms" and wishing I had drunk more water the night before.
If I have had a bad day at work "Licence to Kill" (why can't I have one. I would use it wisely... I swear) becomes my favourite. I would love various people who have annoyed me to tragically die in a tanker accident and then I get around to thinking isn't Tim a good actor? No really on that one - I am serious, Tim rocks.
But then I am always won over by Roger the dodger - bad safari suits and all - and I rediscover my love of those really funky looking islands with the big rocks somewhere in the South China Sea and Roger's ability to **** an eyebrow at inapropriate moments.
But then as they replay all the films on a saturday night I my love affair with Sean is reawakened as he "effects me" in "Never Say Never Again" -(A rogue film, but the fact that the bad guys actually have a their own personalised logo matchbooks and helicopter landing pads makes it all worthwhile. Where else, but on a Bond film would they come up with that one). Then Sean gives me nightmares with that terry toweling sky blue bath robe in blue "Goldfinger".. But ohh Pussy. I'll jump into your plane any day. And I am not being crude here... I like joy rides.
And of course Pierce... Completely different, yet strangely perfect. I think I might be displaying PB bias here. All that training in Remington Steele obviously paid off. From defying gravity in "Goldeneye" to shoving a drill thingie into Elliot Carver's face in "Tomorrow Never Dies" the man has a certain appeal, but I will leave you to work out what it is?. And let us not forget to to mention all the people who spend a lot of their time managing to ensure that the big drill thingie doesn't actually squish the guy who plays Elliot Carver, thus ending his great career as a lead in "Miss Saigon".
How can you choose? No really I would like to know. On Bondian qualities, action-adventure? Fill me in. What does make a good Bond film? And if you say action, adventure, good looking girls, and really wild things I will beat you up.
