The image above is their home page, at it appeared earlier today. As collectors here and elsewhere have discussed, "James Bond" was formally listed by the Omega watch company as one of its brand ambassadors, in conjunction with appearance of the first James Bond Omega watch in GoldenEye. Over the years, Pierce Brosnan - whose image as Bond was used to associate and promote "James Bond Choice" watch models was additionally and separately contracted as a brand ambassador. Thus, we had "Pierce Brosnan's Choice" models which were promoted, but not affiliated with the fictional James Bond character.
When Craig became Bond, the independent relationship with Brosnan ended. We then started to see images of Craig in-character as James Bond in Omega promotions; and, of course, James Bond continued as an Ambassador.
But Daniel Craig was not introduced to the fold separately, paralleling Pierce Brosnan's work for them. Craig did, however, attend an Omega Boutique opening in Russia. And, as we know, did some fantastic above-and-beyond work specific to Omega watches in photos that started appearing around the time Quantum of Solace was released.
In late January of this year, Omega issued a press release talking about a joint promotion they were doing related to a specific watch model and fundraising for ORBIS International. They referred to Daniel Craig there as an ambassador in the release, but sans reference in their "Ambassador" index. I noted this on my James Bond Watches Blog for January 28.
Now, today, I see there's a relatively recent addition of Daniel Craig - again, in addition to and separate from James Bond - on the "Ambassadors" menu tab at the top of the Omega website home page. This will take you to the page above, which is what one would expect for an Ambassador. Bit of a bio; one or more watch "choices" associated with him or her.
I wouldn't be surprised if the missing Ambassador link, and perhaps lack of dedicated page, was simply something in someone's to-do list from the time of the January 2011 press release. (Catch-up now likely tied to preparations for BaselWorld 2011, which is the biggest, annual watch industry fair.) Still, this, along with a curious emphasis about Craig having been an "OMEGA brand ambassador since 2010" (despite no announcement at all until 2011, as an aside, as opposed to something dedicated), suggests a further amping-up of ties between Omega and the franchise.
Further solidifying Omega as the best bet for watch choices in Bond 23.
Should anyone wish to speculate otherwise, of course.
