Actress Brittany Murphy died of cardiac arrested on Sunday morning at the age of 32.

TMZ reports Brittany’s mom discovered her unconscious in the shower.

The Associated Press reports that the Los Angeles Fire Department then responded to a 911 call from the home of screenwriter Simon Monjack, Brittany’s husband. She was pronounced dead at Cedars Sinai Medical Center.

Brittany has starred in many films such as Clueless, 8 Mile and Riding in Cars with Boys.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Brittany’s family and friends.

- Never saw any of her films but another gone way too soon. B)

I liked Murphy in Freeway.

Speculation is already rife about the cause of her death.

What a shocker to have my homepage load up and the story on their is about this. I never expected this to happen at all, in fact SNL were just making jokes about her last week for pulling out of a film.

And the worst part is, she's only 4 years older than me B)

RIP Brit, I once had a huge crush on you.

She's so young. This shouldn't happen to someone her age.

I wake up sick & pissed that my power chord to my computer has gone caput & then i find out about this on Twitter. What a crap day. I rember loving Clueless as a early teen & King Of The Hill was a favorite of mine. 32 is way too young to die.

R.I.P. Ms. Murphy

I'll miss you.

I'm still in shock over this. It's the same feeling I had when Heath Ledger died. Such a sad story for such a beautiful, young woman to be robbed of life like this. I've seen quite a few of her movies, such as Clueless, 8 Mile, Sin City and Just Married and she was indeed a very talented actress. My thoughts are with her family at this time. B)

Yeah but Leger would have won an Oscar, starred again as the Joker in Batman 3...but point taken.

Tarl, sad for me to say this, but Heath Ledger probably wouldn't have even been nominated had he not died in the middle of the film's hype period. B)

As for the lamentably late Ms. Murphy, I remember her back when she was on the second season of The Torkelsons (mainly from reruns), so it's a bit like losing someone you've known all your life, to me.

naw, he woulda won it. That guy from No Country won for a rather pedestrian effort(by comparison). Batman 3 would be filming in a few months were Ledger with us still(imo).

anyway, sad news. So young.

B)

According to the coroner, it may have been due to natural causes.
Murphy may have died of natural causes

Anyway, this is very sad. I admittedly haven't seen her in too many movies, but the ones that I did see her in I noticed that she was quite talented and had a very good on-screen personality. I would say that she was probably the one bright spot in the otherwise terrible Sin City.

As others have said, it's sad to see a career and a life cut so short. Thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends in this tough time.

Well since hubby is trying to block the autopsy :

I guess it'll be a while before the truth comes out. But in these cases you have to consider that where there's smoke, there's fire :

I think Murphy might have enjoyed a reasonable career as a character actress if she had only accepted herself. The cosmetic surgery and drugs-induced weight loss she underwent to obtain film leads was rather sad.

I preferred her in chubby nut parts such as in 'Freeway', 'Girl, Interrupted', or in Phoenix, but I guess she didn't want that sort of career. It's a shame, as her platinum-blonde stick insect look was not nearly as distinctive or convincing.

Quality post Ambler.

I think it's a shame that almost every Hollywood actress now feels the need to conform to that stick-insect norm. It has happened even to the - seemingly - more grounded ones like Anne Hathaway. She has lost quite a bit of weight as well in the past two years, based on recent media appearances.

I wasn't sure anyone had posted this or not, and news of her death has died down, but here it is anyway:

Brittany Murphy singing "Nobody Does It Better" in the film Little Black Book

She did have a great voice. And she was brilliant in "Girl, Interrupted." Gone too soon . . .

The coroner's preliminary findings suggest that Murphy's husband Simon Monjack also died from 'acute pneumonia and severe anaemia.'

All rather odd.
