'It is not true. No-one has been to visit. We know nothing about it.'

The Sunday Express today has a small snippet on Bond 23. Couldn't find it online, but the article reads:

He may have said no to the cast of Sex And The City filming their saucy scenes beneath the gold-leaf ceilings of his fabulous Emirates Palace Hotel but the Sheikh of Abu Dhabi has reacted rather more favourably to a request from the makers of the new James Bond movie.

"We have had a call from the James Bond production company asking if they can come and recce the hotel with a view to filming here, and the Sheikh has reacted very enthusiastically," gushes a member of his executive staff.

Don't know how real this is, but I thought it might provide something for discussion.

Very nice indeed.

I wonder though, if it were to be used, would they leave it as a hotel, or would they dress it up to be the villain's lair or something? I dunno about you but I get a definite Monsoon Palace sort of vibe from it, y'know?

United Arab Emirates (small nation to the North East of Saudi Arabia facing the Persian Gulf). Think of the Emirates Stadium mate. B)

I don't want to jump the gun (cause then someone will jump in and wave the "we know nothing" banner)

But if this is true United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan, and New york. I'd be happy if those were the exact locations for bond 23.

Now I am going to say now we know nothing i am aware of that but perhaps maybe things are coming along for bond 23 slowly

It's an amazing place, very artificial and larger than life, though stunning in it's own way. It's basically bought up by loads of investors and multi-national corporations across the world, with cities such as Dubai, with different companies building their own luxury archipelagos.

Quantum would naturally have Arab tycoons in their web, along with various CEOS, bankers, accountants and politicians with the ties to the area.

combing it with New york makes sense to me for some reason. Not in a you only live twice quantum causing world war 3 kind of way but in a monoply behind the scenes investing in western and middle eastern Companies.

Maybe a stopover to "Afghanistan" where Bond partakes in the local delicacies?

In a "real world" setting, this locale along with Dubai certainly does offer itself to 007. Right now, there's no news, but an interesting tidbit to pass along.

Having lunch with an old friend affiliated with a certain studio *cough* this last week, a little whisper mentioned that Japan was being looked at. Just a whisper though. The middle east did come up as well though.

Time will tell.

...it always does.

Well I guess I have a feeling about both countries. Figured one of the other considering what info we have already on the storyline (yes not much but there you go)but some major country out East might get a look-in.

What I find to be most thrilling though is that you keep my quotes. B)

I have to say i'm getting excited. Locations are being looked at which means they have a gneral story in mind.

Dan I'm glad you let me have my fun some on this board belive conjecture is bad. I realize i'm putting isolated rumoures together to get something that may or may not be true.

Japan Interesting perhaps certain elements of the novel YOLT are coming into play not sure how i feel about that if it becomes true.

Altough I think A pts in Japan would be rather Facinating.

But would Japan to new york To UAE to Afghanistan be too much global criscrossing (if things are true)

I just love trying to peace together things and if your on this board and hate conjecture and peaicing rumours together. Don't read my posts lol

Dan I'm glad you enjoy my ideas B)

As I said, nothing wrong in it at all. I'm glad this hasn't found it's way to the tabloid trash for once. B)
As for global criss-crossing, it all depends on how they envelope it into the storyline (obviously) and remember some places may not represent themselves.
But I agree, a formation of at least some news geographically may help in making things a little less foggy and allowing more ideas to form.

Japan (wherever in Japan) would be cool for a sort of unrelated to the story PTS. Bond wrapping up an assignment ala' Goldfinger's PTS.

Now that all the CR/QOS bit has been dealt with, B23 needs to be Craig's GF. No Quantum, no BS, just another adventure for 007.

We can hope that this will be the case.

well I would prefer Quantum to have a minor part.

How about as sort of middle ground Bond goes after one of Quantum's clients this way yes Quantum is involved and White and haines could be involved however those who want a break from quantum could get a minor one as the real villian is Mr Phillip Masters a smuggler who is one of Quantum's beiggest clients.

Might be a great way to setup A bond vs redgrant type of film for bond 24.

Japan PTS might be really cool B)

Just a wrapping up of events maybe from QoS then onto something new will do me fine. Lots of scenery, a few romps, a bit of boozing and back to CR's Bond. B)
Well all that and a nice Chicken Korma anyway. :)

Old news from 2008 but coincidence?:
http://www.ameinfo.com/173432.html

Open air cinema to feature James Bond:
The lineup of films to be shown at an open air movie festival taking place in the UAE in November and December will include the new James Bond film The Quantum of Solace. Scheduled to take place from November 10-21 in Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai and from December 1-12 at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, Hydra Open Air Cinema UAE 2008 will feature a host of premieres and pre-premiers handpicked from across the globe. The movies will be shown on a 4,000 square feet screen that will be boosted by a 32 speaker digital surround sound system.

Seems Bond is welcomed in UAE.

I'll go with that in as much that Bond is taking out another member of Quantum in a PTS (maybe someone he ID'd from the opera) but then the rest of the film has nothing to do with it. Sort of like the TB PTS - then again, it did play into the whole film.

We need a Goldfinger, Scaramanga, Kananga, Kristatos (no offense to anyone here on the boards screen names. Hell, Stromberg's one of my best friends and I'm proud to say it! B) ) who is just out for thier own personal gain, not domination of the world for Bond to battle.

Just sayin'.

If Dubai is used a location I really hope they don't gloss over the fact that all these skyscrapers and luxury hotels are being built with slave labor. It'd be even better if Quantum is tied into it, like the Haiti thing in QoS.

Interesting. Very interesting. As a Japanophile, the mere whisper of the possibility of our man Bond making a long-overdue return to the Land of the Rising Sun makes me come over all hot and bothered.

UAE could offer some beautiful desert shots as well. I thought the deserts around Dubai used in Planet of the Dead were put to very good use, even if the episode itself was only mediocre.
