That aside it's a brilliant book, especially if your friends and family are stumped as to what to get you for Christmas.

True, but you have to expect this from an official book. Hey, at least they tell this story. Past official book would never touch anythning like this.Originally posted by Roebuck
If this book does have a minor flaw (and it's extremely minor) it's a pro EON bias. For instance, when the book discusses things like the pressure Broccoli and Saltzman brought to bear on Norman Felton to change the name of his TV spy show from 'Mr. Solo'. The language used is couched to show the Bond producers in a better light than other accounts of the affair have.

I love this book, everything zencat said is true, and its not just the pics from DAD that lead me to the conclusion that zencat has made, but most of the phrases that they use also give me great hope for the film (and yes, you bet your *** I read the whole section devoted to DAD spoiler or no spoiler

Anyway, I've been hesitant to buy this book because it's just so damned expansive (it still sells here in Oz for $110!).
But when I went into Borders the other day they had two copies whereas on my past visits (I practically live in the store) there's only ever been one, the Boxtree one. The second one I noticed was exactly half the cost of the other, though.

Now, the cheaper one is published by Abrams, and I want to know if it's any different to the Boxtree one?
At $55 I can afford it if it has the same content as the Boxtree one.

And oddly enough, both were printed in Britain. The "American" ones were printed in England and shipped to the US.

It is my understanding that the Boxtree and Abrams printings have the same content, but I've never compared them side by side.
Yeah, I remember being a bit confused about it when I first about this new one last year.

Amazing how one book can be half the cost yet contain the same content. AUS-GBP and AUS-US exchange rates and all that, I guess.John Cork told me they are absolutely the same.

The Abrams publication will fix that oversight for me.I don't think any Bond fan can afford NOT to buy this superb book.

I'll have to see if I can locate a copy of the Haining book, I don't believe I've ever seen it.2 Books that are essential in any Bond collection are JB The legacy and Peter Haining's "JB : A Celebration "

Not waiting until August, mate!

There wouldn't be any need. Early on in our relationship she laid down the ground rules. If I ever "strayed" she'd go missing, the kids would go missing, and the bank account(s) would go missing! True romantic, my wife.*just send me the divorce lawyer's bill!

Its a good book, it came out just when tim dalton was picked for the role, at the time it was the most informative background on 007 ( books and films ) that i had come across.
