Dr Kaufman was fantastic, but he should have been the main guy instead of bad Hans clone Stamper. Kaufman was sadly only a quick cameo (though highly memorable, even if let down by bad direction). Parkour bloke from CR was brilliant, VERY memorable, but once more, he wasn't the main henchman ala OddJob, Grant or Jaws, etc.

I don't think Xenia Onatopp has any competition from any of the main 007 henchman that came after her. Zao showed promise (Yune's understated performance was right on) but the character was a misused afterthought. Xenia was a ruthless but intelligent killer, athletic and a pretty good match for Bond. Despite the spooflike surname, Ms. Onatopp was played straight as a thrill seeking psycho who can make men do whatever she wants. The dynamic between Xenia and OO6 (clearly a platonic relationship with mutual respect) is convincing and you rally get the feeling that she is always thinking ahead while enjoying her mostly orgasmic sadism as it comes. I think everyone remembers the killer thighs woman from Goldeneye!

I'd LOVE to see a big, iconic 007 main henchman return to our screens asap. We have a thread for that in the Bond 23 forum. :(

Are we open to the influence of Fatima Blush on Xenia? Was this a coincidence?

Renard is technically actually Elektra's henchmen and fits the traditional role of nearly invincible physical threats to James Bond while the "brains" is not so much.

So I'd say he was a decent enough successor.

Xenia is better, though.

i just rewatched GoldenEye the other night - it was better than i rememebred it - i thought it was amiddle of the pack Bond - but after reviewing it i think it was better than that.

i also forgot how much i enjoyed Xenia Onatopp - she is one of my favorite Bond henchman. it is a shame how they killed her off without one more hand to hand fight with Bond.

Xenia Onatopp is unquestionably the last great Bond henchman. She was awesome in GoldenEye. She's also my favorite of the femme fatales.

Indeed. Second only to Fiona Volpe in my book.

Love her. Love everyone in Goldeneye, 'cept for nervous twitchy guy.

"Nice to meet you, Mister Bond".
