It has been said, that GOLDFINGER is the only Connery Bond film not to feature SPECTRE in any way, shape or form. However, last night, while watching it on a 65" TV, I think I noticed the old boy wearing a golden (of course) octopus/SPECTRE ring! Pay close attention to the Miami scene where Goldfiger plays cards with the other guy, and is seen through the binoculars. It is especially noticable when he breaks the pencil. If I'm not mistaken, there it is!

I guess all the Connery's are offically dominated by SPECTRE.

It t'aint the ring Mc Gee. The SPECTRE ring is large and white with the black octopus. He was working with Red China and no one else.

No, not the ring. Watch it again, Dr Mirakle32.
You are mistaken.
It is a sovereign ring not an octopus.

Are you sure? I kept pausing and staring at it, and it looked like one of the prop guys simply got the SPECTRE ring mold, and cast it/ painted it gold.

Goldfinger could've never been a SPECTRE agent. His greed wouldn't allow it. He wouldn't share any of his scheme profits with Blofeld and would have ended up in a spectactular death courtesy of the execution branch.

I'm not saying there was an in-story/intentional reason, just that maybe an old prop was retooled.

I think Auric Goldfinger is a SPECTRE agent in the video game GoldenEye: Rogue Agent, though. SPECTRE is called OCTOPUS in the game but we all know it's meant to be SPECTRE.

Goldfinger has absoloutly no ties with spectre. In fact, spectre goes against everything GF stands for and all her cares about is, himself. Why share when one can dominate? One of the reasons why GF imo is the best Bond villain of all time.

Watched it again, and can GUARANTEE it is indeed a SPECTRE ring. I noticed somebody else even posted a thread on IMDB about it. Go look again.

How about this. I have the UE DVD and a pretty good DVD program on my computer. How about I provide physical evidence (in the form of a screen capture) for you?

OKay, as promised: The first attachment is the scene in question. James Bond is looking through the binoculars, observing Goldfinger breaking the pencil. The ring can be seen on Goldfingers ring finger of his right hand. The second attachment is a closeup of the ring. I hate to say it, but that is not a SPECTRE ring. Hopefully, I will be able to post a picture of the SPECTRE ring as an attachment on my previous post. No promises though. Sorry they are attachments, I can not place them as images.

Actually no. He is not with SPECTRE/OCTOPUS in Rouge Agent. His Auric Enterprises is actually under threat from SPECTRE, mainly Dr. No in the game. Scaramanga is also shown to be in Goldfingers' employ

Actually, not that I am disagreeing with you, but M never actually says SPECTRE or Octopus. She calls it "the most powerful criminal organization in the world". However, in the Main Theme, Goldfinger says, "Dr. No has broken ranks with our organization. He must be eliminated. However, Goldfinger is the one who gets access to Atlantis, I think it is, which was supposed to be their bank\auction house. Again, I'm not necessarily saying you are wrong; its just too many coincidences for me.

In the books he works for SMERSH. So it's conceivable that he could work for SPECTRE...

I don't think Auric Goldfinger is an agent of SPECTRE. The SPECTRE organization was out for itself. Its members wanted to increase its power and influence around the globe. Auric Goldfinger on the other hand wanted to increase the value of his own gold by destroying Fort Knox. The gold belonged to him, and not SPECTRE. He just wanted to get richer.

You're just going to have to accept the fact that Connery made one film that truthfully has nothing to do with SPECTRE and basically broke from continuity.
