After seeing CR I would have said yes. But I've changed my mind after seeing QOS. I frankly didn't like the James Bond in this film. He's too whinny and self-absorbed. That's not who James Bond is supposed to be to me.
I find this odd as Bond in this film is pretty much laconic throughout

But I ABSOLUTELY LOVED Craig's Bond in QoS. THAT was a bad

Is he the best, or even my favorite? Hell no; Roger Moore and Connery have those spots. But I will look forward to any new films he stars in.

Splendid. After dying of wait, I'm finally leaving for my advance screening. I hope to be blown away by Craig's performance.now after seeing QOS, i have come to the conclusion that Daniel Craig is the BEST bond ever.

... I agree. Daniel Craig combines every exciting character trait of the former Bonds and therefore has become the Best Bond Ever IMO as well. CR had me persuaded that Craig was very good. But QOS has catapulted Craig to the top of them all.
The only bad thing about this: Who could really top Craig or even equal him when he resigns?

QoS follows on from what happened in CR, so he should be like that. He's not happy about what hapened in CR. A Bond years from current events would be able to carry on, but not this one. But I think the James Bond who is supposed to be what he is to you will be back in the next film.

I loved Daniel Craig's peformance in QOS. But I'm sorry, it's almost inpossible to top Connery's performances for me, especially in FRWL and Goldfinger. But I hope Craig will stay as Bond for a long time!

That's something I don't want to think about! QoS (and then CR - I saw them backwards!) brought me back to Bond after years of just not seeing the movies because of disappointment with how they compared to Connery's movies. The thought of Daniel Craig leaving the role so soon after being wowed with quality Bond films is a downer.
Sean Connery was always Bond for me, but I am also so happy with Daniel Craig's portrayal. The thing is, actors of Daniel Craig's calibre and versatility do not come along every day.
We've been blessed in the UK with a generation of excellent male actors (David Thewlis, Christopher Ecclestone, Gary Oldman, Ralph Fiennes, Ewan McGregor, Robert Carlyle, Kevin McKidd to name but a few). Most of them have their roots, like Daniel Craig, in the theatre, but I don't think any of them could have done what he has done.
Here's the problem though. Casino Royale was the perfect vehicle with which to wind back the clock. It took Bond back to the beginning and allowed us to see him as a younger man and will then allow us to see him grow all over again.
By the time Craig has finished his run of another 2 or 3 films, (depending on whichever source you read), that will take another at least 6 or 7 years and Bond will be a mature man and older agent. They surely cannot wind it back to the beginning again and hope to make it real, so any successor will need to come from the current stock of actors in their (real age) 30s.
To a certain extent (and depending on your point of view) they were lucky in that they had an almost ready-made Bond in Roger Moore to follow Sean Connery. Moore's role in the Saint already had him pegged in the spy genre.
Then it seemed they picked actors because they looked like Fleming's physical description and who could act sufficiently to get from the beginning to the end of a film. My apologies to Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan fans, I don't mean to be rude, I just couldn't warm to them.
Someone then had the balls to pick an actor for the next set of films. And here's the thing, Daniel Craig is not a "celeb" actor, he is an actor's actor in the purest sense of the phrase. It doesn't matter that he is blond, blue-eyed and shorter, it matters that he can convince his audience that he is James Bond.
I don't envy them thinking ahead to who will fill Daniel Craig's shoes. I'm just hoping that he stays enthused about Bond (and physically healthy enough to do the job), and that the next films he is actually contracted for are so good that he might get tempted to stay on for one or two more on top of those.
But....even if he left tomorrow, he would be leaving fans with two quality films and that is something to be grateful for.

1. Sean Connery
2. Roger Moore
3. Timothy Dalton
4. George Lazenby
5. Pierce Brosnan
6. Daniel Craig
Craig has been tied with Brosnan going into QOS but with utterly charmless Bond in QOS, he drops to sole possession of last place.

However, Timothy Dalton was my first Bond and always will be. I proudly admit that to the point that I also declare that I didn't want Pierce Bronsan in the role. While Connery might be the cinematic Bond, Tim seems like the literary James Bond lifted from the pages and brought to life on screen. He fit the role very well.
Bronsan for me on the other hand, seemed like the return of Moore's Bond. During his tenure the press and alot of people were calling Pierce's performance a "perfect blend of Connery and Moore." (Quoted verbatim) Sadly, I just didn't see much of Connery in Pierce's performances. He's a great actor, but to be honest, he wasn't much of a James Bond as some people were praising.
As for Daniel, I believe he's a good blend of Connery AND Fleming. Everytime I watch Casino Royale I see Ian's creation brought to life as if Connery and all the others hadn't existed. I know that sounds weird, but I think that's what Barbra and Michael were looking for when they wanted to go with this new direction.

now after seeing QOS, i have come to the conclusion that Daniel Craig is the BEST bond ever.
Agreed. After CR I had up with there tied for first place with Dalton and the only reason he wasn't first was because it would have been presumptious of me to judge Craig over just one film. After QOS though, there's no doubt. Daniel Craig IS James Bond.

Even before QOS, he was for me.
