I kept on waiting to see James Bond in Quantum of Solace, but where was he? I wanted to see a bit of panache, sophistication, refinement - that guy who flirted with Vesper on the train and oozed with wit and sex appeal - his voice alone commanded a rare confidence and charisma.

What I saw was a generic action hero who happened to be called James Bond. He was a great killing machine, but where were his one-liners? Where was his charm? Where was the magic spark that makes him the envy of every man and the desire of every woman? That guy who says "my name is Bond, James Bond." Where was James Bond?

I say:
BRING BACK JAMES BOND IN THE NEXT MOVIE!

Do you agree?

Bond arrived in CR. Since then, he’s never left. I want him to stay around for a lot longer yet.

No need to attack me. I just want to see the James Bond, whoever the actor. The James Bond that I have admired for over 30 years.

That's why you have your review thread, to rant about your hatred of QOS. There is no need to create another one just so you can repeat yourself.

I think you'll get more of what you want in the next movie. Craig has hinted that it won't be this dark again and Q&penny could return.

Thanks QoS - nice of you to be so positive. If more people could follow your example, we'd all be happier. Maybe the producers realise they have gone too far.

I thought this would be an anti Craig post by the title - I'm glad it is not. I have yet to see QoS :( (sometimes it sucks to be a Yank) but I thought they finally brought James Bond back with Casino Royale. I had missed him for about 15 years.

Well, I don't see many people here complaining, except the odd few. Alot of people who have seen it, me included, think that it's a brilliant film.

I have heard Craig say that he thinks the next film will be lighter and that he would like Q and Moneypenny to return, but only if they can get it right. He also said he was ready for 'submarine bases'. BIG sets and world domination! This is what I saw on the TV but
I think QOS is one of the best films so I don't think the producers have gone too far. If they made another dark movie without all the usual trappings I would be more excited than if they returned to the formula, but I'll be there opening night whatever they decide.

I'm tempted to agree with the original post. Craig did his best but to little avail. On mature reflection I won't agree since I could just about see Bond there in the film. But I'm tempted.........

We have over 40 years of films that include what you mention. I don't see anything wrong with them trying something different.

Yes,producers, marketing men, the accountants et al always quake in their shoes and instantly change direction when a few fans sign an internet petition (usually a couple of hundred times each).

Hasn't Craig said in an interview that the next Bond film will be more lyrical compared to QOS.

Bond will never be as generic an action hero as he was on the Stealth boat in TND. Strange how that rarely gets criticised.

Do not resist, Let your inner desires lead you into temptation to deliver you from evil villains. Back the real Bomd, not a pale imitation. Bond can save the world. By saving Bond, you can help save us all. Sign up today!

I’m sure this petition will work. Said so at the end of the film. ‘James Bond will return,’ it said. Yes, I think we can all agree. Bring back James Bond for the next film.
You know, James Bond, that fellow who was in Quantum of Solace. Bring him back.

Now I get it: you're talking about that ornithologist guy, aren't you?

Well, admittetly, his cameo in DAD was a bit brief, but that's no reason to shoehorn him into B23.
