Quantum Of Solace Soundtrack impressions

Since the QoS soundtrack is now officially available on itunes, I think it's time to collect first impressions of the score.
First things first, is the gunbarrel not on the CD or is it scored differently?
As far as general impressions of quality are concerned, I will go lean myself out the window and say that compared to Casino Royale, Quantum Of Solace is a step back as far as Bond music is concerned.

It's good to see Arnold moving away from the techno stuff.

Correct. As I understand it, the score for the gunbarrel is not included on the soundtrack at all.

I'm very disapointed by the lack, on the CD, of the end-titles music (actually, the complete James Bond Theme with the GB overture).
It's unbelievable that, once again, we can't get the complete score on CD.
And now for something completly different... :-))
I'm fed up with the comparisons with Bourne.
The train fight in FRWL and the elevator fight in DAF, for instance, were obviously very Bourne-like too... except that those 2 films were shown long before the Bourne Trilogy!!!!

It's not just a question of the complete James Bond theme...Why do we need to have the complete James Bond theme on EVERY single soundtrack??
It's just a question of having the opportunity to get the WHOLE score, that's all...
(the CD capacity allows it... so I don't see why, very often, we can get only some cues of the movies soundtracks instead of the complete score).
I see one reason : to create the need of buying 2 CD, the short then the long version!

I don't know how to put it differently, but to my ears, QoS lacks a clear line, some kind of clarity in the writing, an overall coherence. With no specific themes, it kind of sounds like it's all over the place.
The usage of the guitars does sound intriguing, though.

Since, most of us have heard the Quantum of Solace soundrack as of now, I was wondering.. what are your favorite tracks?
My top 5:
1. Time To Get Out (Track 1)
2. Pursuit at Port au Prince (Track 7)
3. Field Trip (Track 14)
4. I Never Left (Track 24)
5. What's keeping you awake? (Track 12)

I still don't know what to make of Vesper's theme here. Sure, in the context of the story, it makes absolutely sense to use it; but musically, I think it makes the score less original and interesting.

indeed about the themes... as for Vesper's theme, remember... this is FOR the film, and really, that's the only goal here....
anyway, I think part of what I'm missing is the clear themes... for CR we had clear themes for (excluding James Bond himself):
Solange,
Vesper
a second romance theme
various instances of strong YKMN orchestration
QOS seemingly has almost none of these... there may be a theme for Camille, but it's so low and incidental as to be almost unnoticeable. AWTD shows up VERY minimally... I guess I'll have to see the film to see if anything crops up... but I'm not really noticing any atm.

DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!As I understand it, the score for the gunbarrel is not included on the soundtrack at all.
I like how every QoS topic I read seems to have a gunbarrel mention.
I noticed, although I have yet to buy it, that the White/Keys theme song as at the end rather than at the beginning..................just like the gunbarrel (!)
Sorry, I need to stay on topic.

Why do we need to have the complete James Bond theme on EVERY single soundtrack?? We just had it on the Casino Royale soundtrack so it doesn't bother me one bit.. Same goes for the gunbarrel cue.. We had it on the TND, and DAD soundtracks so I'm not bothered about not having it for Quantum of Solace. I would have liked to have the Goldeneye gunbarrel cue..loved the timpani sound!
GE is my favorite gunbarrel because of that, followed closely by CR. I recorded the GE gunbarrel music off of the movie onto my computer.
Hey, does anyone know if YKMN (the version used in the credits of CR) is available anywhere other than in the movie???

Okay. As long as it's not a cover of Eric Serra's The Experience of Love.
