Last night I was looking though the extras of my new 'The Blues Brothers' DVD. Amoung the extras is filmographys of each of the major cast members. Anyway, Ray Charles's filmography was pretty short obviously, included are his camoes in films like 'Spy Hard' and so forth, but also listed is 'Octopussy' which really suprised me, since I definatly don't recall him in the film (and he's teh sort of person one would recall seeing). Can anyone confirm or deny wheather or not Ray Charles was in Octopussy ?

Okay, this is really a case of "What the?"

Ray Charles has a credit listing at the Bond Film Informant as one of 'The Thugs'.

On the IMDb, Ray Charles (I) is the performer who appears as 'Ray' in Blues Brothers.

Ray Charles (III) is credited with Octopussy. However, that's his only credit.

So why Ray Charles (I) is given credit for Octopussy, I don't know.

Obviously who ever put the filmography together for the DVD stuffed up, quite an interesting stuff up anyway.

So, it's A Ray Charles rather than THE Ray Charles. I was pretty sure I hadn't seen him there. But then he wouldn't have seen me either.

Profuse apologies for that "joke".

I think it's probably just an actor who happened to be named Ray Charles -- not the musician.

I think that would a very interesting choice for him to sing a Bond Theme :)

I always wondered why they didn't get SADE to sing like 5 Bond Themes by now:(:)

she is perfect for a james bond :)

I keep saying that for years, it would be perfect. "Smooth Operator" always reminds me somewhat of the OHMSS theme (and the video is also very "Bond"), and I always had a suspicion that it was originaly an attempt for a Bond theme.
And wouldn't she make a fantastic Bondgirl?

Ray Charles singing a Bond theme would also be great, I really love his "Cincinatti Kid" theme. But he might be a tad too old by now, about 72 or 73. Don't know if his his voice is still in good shape. On the other hand, he's still on tour and judging from the way I've seen other musicians of that age perform, he might still be well capable to deliver.
