Ray Charles has a credit listing at the Bond Film Informant as one of 'The Thugs'.
On the IMDb, Ray Charles (I) is the performer who appears as 'Ray' in Blues Brothers.
Ray Charles (III) is credited with Octopussy. However, that's his only credit.
So why Ray Charles (I) is given credit for Octopussy, I don't know.

I knew a blind chap. He always said "see ya later" at the end of a phone call.

I think that would a very interesting choice for him to sing a Bond Theme

I always wondered why they didn't get SADE to sing like 5 Bond Themes by now:(

she is perfect for a james bond

I keep saying that for years, it would be perfect. "Smooth Operator" always reminds me somewhat of the OHMSS theme (and the video is also very "Bond"), and I always had a suspicion that it was originaly an attempt for a Bond theme.
And wouldn't she make a fantastic Bondgirl?
Ray Charles singing a Bond theme would also be great, I really love his "Cincinatti Kid" theme. But he might be a tad too old by now, about 72 or 73. Don't know if his his voice is still in good shape. On the other hand, he's still on tour and judging from the way I've seen other musicians of that age perform, he might still be well capable to deliver.
