Hmm...not the way I would've gone when it came to the book tie-in, but what the heck. Sounds good to me.

Does anyone know if the fact that the language of the short story collection is listed as French on Amazon is simply a mistake?

I would naturally assume so, but still - an odd error.

Believe it is. The same listing on amazon.fr has "ENG" listed next to the MC Fiction label.

That's a surprise and a nice one. I've never been a fan of the film novelizations since the movies are filled with action which don't read aswell in books, well, for me anyway. Action oriented books aint any kind of fun. I was sure they'd be a novelization like with Moonraker and TSWLM by Christopher Wood.

An obvious, "not before time" idea. But still, one for the completists only - though its probably an ideal volume for a beach-bag.

And ends the probability of a novelisation. Not sure how I feel about that.

I noticed this same mistake on the listing for the SilverFin graphic novel as well. Weird.

Damn. Was hoping it'd include the Benson stories along with the Flemings, as well as any other short stories that may have been published. (Didn't Faulks do one for a magazine once? A parody it may have been, but it still qualifies as a Bond short story.) Hardly "the complete James Bond short stories", then.

Instead, it looks like.... well, something that's completely unnecessary and designed just to fleece the fans once again. No new (or "new") material, and nothing of interest to those of us who haven't already splashed out time and time again for the works of Fleming.

A missed opportunity. I certainly won't be buying it.

I'm not completely sure about that, actually. With them releasing this collection in May, it seems to be aimed slightly more towards tieing in with the centenary events as opposed to the Quantum of Solace film.

They could still put out a novelization in October/November if they wanted to.

No cover art with a photo of Daniel Craig? Another surprise. I don't mind the picture but the font style is rather bland and too 70's looking for my liking. Not that I will get the book anyway. I have all the stories already and I'm not a collector.

I bet if this was being released right around November it would have had some film tie-in cover art.

I'm rather glad they continued the same art style in use instead of something completely unaffiliated. I think it looks great.

It is indeed a unique situation that the U.S. seems to be getting the better cover art these days. Devil May Care, Double or Die, The Moneypenny Diaries, and now this book. All superior to their UK counterparts, IMO.

Now if they'd just release a Colonel Sun in this style.

sure after i buy (i asumme the 91 reprint as the foward by amis is dated 1991) Colonel sun the rerelased it with much better art worklol.

Honestly I may buy Quantum of Solace solely for the art work.

though in truth i wish QOS not only included all the short stories but i'd love it if included Fleming's unfinnished short story possibly finnished by Sebasten Foulks with either an unused fleming title given to it (Like The Inhuman element) or perhaps taking what appears to be good title (belive the contacts name was Zoragopes or something like that i rember it begining with a Z... i apolgize to fleming and his many fans for geting the last name wrong anyways that could be the title) and using that as a title of course with that said it would give us another "fleming" title to hope argue and pnder for a possible film title.

Very surprising indeed considering that this book is a merciless cash-in.
