Wasn't this the one that was released around Casino Royale and only was updated by like a page for that movie?

They better do a real update this time around. The 2006 version was a colossal disappointment.

Exactly. I see no point upgrading for the sake of one or two extra pages.

Still no official blurb, but the book is now discounted to $16.49 at amazon.com...

And I still really don't care.

This is a book I just really don't feel the need to upgrade to unless I find it for about a third of this price.

I felt a little taken by the last "updated" edition. With all the Bond books coming out this year, I'm afraid this is far down the list.

One really has to wonder what else they can put in this book for Quantum of Solace? All they managed for the last one was two pages of basically nothing for Casino Royale.

After their Casino Royale "update", it definitely seems wise to wait and see.

I liked The Secret World of 007 when it first came out back in 2000 or whenever that was. I got it and enjoyed the perspective it gave. But with subsequent printings it has become the same as a lot of other books that were updated over the years -- The Offical James Bond Encyclopedia, The Essential 007, The Complete James Bond 007 Movie Book, The James Bond Girls are examples. These basically just tack on the new film.

A few others -- The James Bond Films, James Bond in the Cinema and The James Bond Bedside Companion -- at least had new material they worked with and made a few other minor modifications that made it worth the repurchase.

Just thought that this would be an interest you all. :(

Become an expert on the extraordinary career of 007 and get the inside scoop on his missions, from defeating the power-mad schemes of Dr No to the mysteries of Casino Royale and go behind the scenes of his latest movie, Quantum of Solace through unseen photography.

Starting with a foreword penned by M herself, uncover the world of Bond, the world’s most famous secret agent. Spectacular photographs reveal the secrets of many of Bond’s amazing gadgets, racy vehicles and racier eye-candy. Explore the lairs of the supervillains he has defeated and follow bullet-by-blow accounts of some of his most death-defying chases and battles.

Investigate 007’s distinctive style, his complicated love life and relationships with other members of M16 from M to Q and Miss Moneypenny. It’s a thrill-a-page 007 adventure.

Meh, the cover is not bad. It's not the best still to use. To warrant a purchase, they better include some more pages from QoS other than that one they show there.

I think extra pages on Quantum of Solace seems unlikely, the last edition only included one page on Casino Royale so I'm expecting for that section to be more fleshed out.

I have the original that went up to TWINE I believe. I didn't get the update for DAD and I don't see myself paying for this one either. However, if you don't own any copies it is a good book and a fun read.

It is a good book but a very tough upgrade if you already own one. The Casino Royale details in the last one basically amounted to this photo plus a few other character head shots.

A few plot spoilers (or at least confirmations) on the QoS preview at the Dorling Kindersley website, it seems...

Such as

Spoiler

Link to that preview is here. (Again, possible spoilers there.)

I'm wondering if that's all they're going to do in terms of Quantum of Solace coverage though - that single preview page. :(

It's actually two pages and that is all we're getting. The same thing happened with Casino Royale which is why I regret buying the second edition. I won't be getting this piece of :( even if it has sweet cover art.

Is that confirmed though, Chris? Granted, it seems like a possibility nonetheless, but perhaps there may be more this time around?

Since I don't work for DK, I can't be 100%. I think this "update" is going to have less new stuff than the second edition because at least that one had a new section for Die Another Day. If we're lucky, we'll get an expanded Casino Royale but only two pages on Quantum of Solace. What a scam.

Ah, the wonderous, but criminally underused Valenka is featured. :(
