Finally picked up one of my favourite movies - GROSSE POINTE BLANK. Terrific film. I never noticed all the 007 references and links in the film!
Minnie Driver (GOLDENEYE)
Guns n' Roses version of LIVE AND LET DIE on the soundtrack (I like the way it segues into a muzak version when John Cusack enters the convenience store!)
A character drives a BMW (tenuous link I know!)
But the obvious reference is the failed assassination sequence, with Japanese chamisen in the background, that virtually copies the way Aki was killed in YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE
I wonder if Cusack (who also co-wrote the film) is a Bond fan?

I love GPB. Don't forget the most obvious 007 ref, the story of the world weary assassin who comes home.
I'll have to watch it again to catch the other refs myself.

I really like Grosse Pointe Blank a lot. (Although very, very little of it was actually shot in Grosse Pointe, which sort of peeves me as a Michigander).
Great film with a great soundtrack. Now I want to watch it again...

I understand that Grosse Point wouldn't give permission because the character was an assassin.
Well, that wouldn't surprise me. Although they did at least a little bit of filming there, so that confuses the issue slightly.
Normally I'm not too offended by film locations being doubled by other locations.
But when the location is in the title of the film...
