I downloaded Amy Winehouse's Back to Black off iTunes yesterday. It's a good album and I recommend it. Track 2 (You Know I'm No Good) has the following line:

"You tear me down like Roger Moore"

"You Know I'm No Good" Lyrics

Does anybody know what this means? Is it a reference to James Bond?

I suspect she just needed something to rhyme with "door".

She is slightly mental so I'm not sure it's worth trying to make sense of it.

She actually says “You tear me down like Radja Muir”.

Radja Muir was the game given to the monument erected by Emperor Shah Jahan for his first wife before it was realized that she would bear him no children. Jahan

Reminds me of the Nick Cave song "Sweetheart Come".

It's annoying me now, I want to know what the line means. Something to do with one of his films? I'm stumped. You know you're having a boring evening when you think it's possible to make sense of Amy Winehouse...

Ha, it seems there's no definitive hearing of that lyric yet - another interpretation is "You tear men down like Roger Moore". Does he tear men down?

I'm such a dork - I've just been on to Sir Roger's official site, where he answers questions from fans every month, and I asked if he knew anything about his mention in the song! I wanted to tell him how much I love him too but managed to restrain myself.

What's your source? If that's true then it must be a James Bond reference.

I thought it was a reference to Roger Moore kicking [censored] as James Bond (like he's so bad that he's tearing men down left and right).. I dunno, that's what I got out of it.. then again what does "snuffed me out like I was Tanqueray" mean :cooltongue:
