CR: Fullscreen or Widescreen?

I'm leaning toward fullscreen because I find widescreen slightly annoying plus it makes the picture smaller. I have both versions but I'm thinking of gfetting rid of one.
Opinions?

Would you rather suffer a couple of tiny bars, or miss out on almost half of the picture itself? With fullscreen, you're not seeing the whole film.

Widescreen - 100% definitely widescreen.

You speak the truth.

X2. No other way to go.
Save your pennies for a bigger tv. It'll be worth it!

Widescreen's great, but only if you have a really large and fantastic widescreen TV, and even then a 2.35:1 television set is preferable (and I don't think they even make those).

As the special features are a trifle thin, I am anticipating a better version being out in future, so when I buy that version, it will be wide-screen.

Revive VHS.
That way people who like Full Screen can go back to the medium of their choice, and I don't have to sift through nothing but Full Screen versions of movies when I go to buy.

Well put, JB007. Nice handle. And welcome to CBn and the Forums. It doesn't matter if you see "more" image on the top and bottom of a fullscreen DVD, what you're seeing is NOT the image as originally framed, and MEANT to be seen by the director...

I wonder why they don't just include both full and wide versions of films the way they did back in the early days of DVD? I guess there wouldn't be as much available bit rate for reproduction if you did.

Widescreen should be banned. It makes people think the bars are some sort of artistic add-on. Rename it "Original Version"
Fullscreen should be banned. It makes peolpe think that they are getting the complete picture. Rename it "Cropped and Edited Version"
Now, who is going to buy the "Cropped and Edited Version?"
Plus, full screen versions were a way of letting people convert from VHS to DVD. People would stick with their VHS tape so they can get "the whole picture." Now that they have no other option to buy the movie, why do studios even bother producing them?

It also happens during the train scene with Bond and Vesper. Ugh...There's a fabulous shot in the teaser where Craig is sitting on one side of the room and Dryden is on the other. That shot is only available in Widescreen, with fullscreen you're going to have the camera panning back and forth, ruining the awesomeness (yes it's a word) of the shot.
Widescreen all the way.
Widescreen all the way. Fullscreen makes me cringe. Unless the TV is tiny, the bars aren't a big problem. I'd rather get the whole picture undistorted if it means two black bars.

Anyone could send me caps of the fullscreen version of the main titles please? Thanks.
