Would love to check it out, but I'm prompted for a password. Can you tell us what the article says?

Wow, that was a great book, and with those actors it's gonna be a great movie too. Do you know who they are going to play?

I loved Eva Green's stuff about her character not being your usual witch, she's more maternal, she's an equal of the wizard in this one and she breaks his heart, or whatever it was. :cooltongue:

I've never read these. I like fantasy (Tolkien and George RR Martin are among my favorites) if they are not to "Kiddiefied". I have heard of these, but not a lot. Are they worth a read?

And Ava Green Looks HOT flying around with that bow!

Cant wait for the movie and Craig's Lord Asriel.

Shame they took the American title of " The Golden Compass" and not the original "Northern Lights".

I hope it stays true to the book and series in general. I am re- reading the series at the moment.

DC is going to be in Cannes next week promoting this movie.

Journalists will also get to see some footage from it.

Really looking forward to this - the books are my 14 year old son's favourite books ever!

I do prefer Northern Lights as a title, but Golden Compass does fit with the other titles in the series better (all being 'The Adjective Noun' in construction!).

Looks very nice, though its not my kind of thing. Interesting to see that Daniel Craig gets the special-guest-star style "and" billing. I think you can briefly see him sans beard at the end there.

I'll see it, but more out of interest in Daniel Craig and Eva Green than in the subject material.

Agreed.

It's obvious (and certainly logical) that New Line is giving this film the Lord of the Rings treatment, but I wonder how far that will go to determining how successful it actually is.

I'm a bit disappointed at the design- Oxford seems to have been turned into a Star Wars version of a futuristic London, which seems a bit over the top to me. In the books it just seemed like a slightly different world, not a more futuristic one.

Nice...looks pretty kick[censored] to me! And I love some Sam Elliot. It's good to know that even in another world, he's still a gnarly hairlipped redneck. :cooltongue:

Craig was just on Radio 1 talking about this film rather enthusiastically. You can listen again if you want- the Edith Bowman show at about 2.50pm.
