Kara Milovy: Dumbest Bond Chick ever!

For starters she goes out with the idiot koskov who sets her up to be killed. And then bond tricks her 'yeah I am koskov's friend, i'll take you to him' and she just follows. You can tell there isnt much going on in her head. 'Yeah koskov paid for your dress' she doesnt even question it. Man Bond plays her hard. And bond doesnt get anything.
She calls up her ex and goes back to him only to be betrayed and thrown to rot in gaol with bond.
Then in the end when bond is flying the plane and giving her 'sign language instructions' to drive her buggy up the back of the plane, how long does it take to sink into skull what it is bond is trying to say? When she finally gets it Bond kinda turns back to flying the plane thinking 'what a numbskull'.
And the fight with Necros hanging off the back of the plane wouldnt have happened if she wasnt dumb and opened the back hatch. Then they fall out because of her bad flying. Then when its all over bond goes back into the cockpit to discover she is flying the plane into a mountain... yeah good idea kara...
And her JAAAAAMES!! screaming is more annoying than stacy sutton. At least she was hotter.

Man I reckon this chick is the most overlooked for earning the award for dumbest bond chick.

LOL, yeah. I probably rank her up there with Stacy Sutton and Honey Rider.

She listens to Bond because the situation made sense at the time. She was being followed by Pushkin's men, so why wouldn't Koskov send help? Perhaps she thought she had an understanding of what Pushkin's tactics were, so the notion of a phony ally didn't occur to her. Also, note that Bond's a top notch agent, so it's not hard to imagine that he'd be especially convincing as a friend of Koskov's. Whatever the case, she does eventually phone Whitaker and get the "truth" from Koskov, so, in a way, she does expose Bond eventually.
As for the whole plane fight deal, Necros looked like he was winning that fight before Kara got all Top Gun...
When she finally gets it Bond kinda turns back to flying the plane thinking 'what a numbskull'.
Well, OK I'll give you that one

Disagree. Sutton was way worse.
There's been a real wild discussion already about Stacey Sutton and several others in my earlier thread: Who is the hottest and dummbest Bond girl?
Sutton was right up there. My own candidate, though, remains Barbara Bach's character in TSWLM.

OK, sorry, gotta disagree. While she's naive, I wouldn't really call her dumb. What she is is out of her element. She's not part of all these spy games, but just a cellist who's in love with everyone's favorite metrosexually handsome Russian general. She does what Koskov says because she believes he loves her, and thus, that she can trust him.

Here, here. I gotta stand up for my girl. Part of what makes The Living Daylights credible is the fact that Kara doesn't switch from naive, innocent cellist and defector from an oppresive, communist regime to a female 007 in a matter of 3 seconds with no explantation in the script like some have (cough! cough! Natalya in GoldenEye). Remember that Kara's lack of ability with a gun is what saves her life at the beginning of the film. If their roles were reversed and Bond was forced to play an instrument with a symphony orchestra with as little musical experience as she had in the world of espionage, Bond wouldn't come off too well in that scenario either. That Kara performs as well as she does in Afghanistan and doesn't do worse is really an achievement for her.

I must vigorously concur with the both of you. Kara strikes me as an artist, accomplished in her field, living under a repressive, oppressive, communist regime where her exposure to the unfiltered outside world necessarily would be next to nil. Given the world she has grown up in and the limitations of her range of experience, it is only natural for her to be ignorant. Ignorance and stupidity should not be confused.OK, sorry, gotta disagree. While she's naive, I wouldn't really call her dumb. What she is is out of her element. I'd still take a dumb cellist over someone apparantly Bond's equal in every way. Let Bond be the brains and the women purely there for show, that's what I say. Sexist? Yes. But it's escapist entertainment isn't it? There's nothing more annoying that Bond being paired up with a female CIA agent, or a female Chinese spy, or a female nuclear scientist. Barbara Bach was the only woman to pull off a role like that. All the rest have been adequate to say the least. Give me a good Domino type, a helpless, useless, sex bomb on legs. Hell, even a more balanced role like the sort Eva Green and Diana Rigg played will do. Just don't give me anymore of Bond's equal. If I want to want a 'male spy/female spy' show I'll watch Mr and Mrs Smith.
Er, what he said. I have this funny feeling some EON executive will come up with the idea of pairing Craig with a female 008 played by Angelina Jolie or some similar type Hollywood name actress sometime during his tenure and it will be advertised as if nothing like this has ever happened before. Yawn.
Kara Milovy's stupidity and Maryam d'Abo's horrible acting combined made Kara Milovy the dumbest Bond girl of all-time.
Horrible acting? I found Miss d'Abo to be very believable as a defector from an Eastern European nation. She and Dalton easily make the most realistic and credible Bond girl/Bond pairing in the series IMHO.

Kara Milovy looked like a deer in headlights for the whole movie. That's a combination between a bad character and bad acting on d'Abo's part.Horrible acting? She's no Kate Blanchet I'll grant you, but surely you can't rank her below:
Jinx

Rosie

So what girl would you prefer? Grace Jones' May Day perhaps? Personally, I'll take Kara.
There was certainly some good chemistry between her and TD, which has often been lacking in the other films. I'm truly sick of hearing every single Bond actress earnestly tell us when cast that "this is not your typical Bond girl - this time she's Bond's equal"
. I'm fairly sure even the most deluded wouldn't make that claim in Kara's case, which is refreshing.
Here. Here. I guess TPTB feel like to sign an actress up for a Bond girl role they have to tell her these things to get her to do it. I remember seeing an interview with Michelle Yeoh. When Miss Yeoh was told she was being considered for the new James Bond movie, her reaction was "Great! I get to play James Bond!" Again, I'll take Kara.

Whatever Stacy, MaryG, and Christmas lacked in brains at least they made up with their hot bods...but Kara had neither brains nor a bod. She practically sucked the whole movie like Kim Basinger did in NSNA.
Totally agree!

To each their own. Personally, I've always found Ms. d'Abo quite appealling and attractive. If her looks don't work for you, that's fine for you; but I would respectfully dispute your claim of her bod-lessness.Whatever Stacy, MaryG, and Christmas lacked in brains at least they made up with their hot bods...but Kara had neither brains nor a bod.
