What Sony product placement?

I understand from another CBNer that the cellphones were Sony brands, but this didn't register to me when I was watching the movie. I was more concerned with what the text messages, dates and numbers were on phones, NOT with which brand name it was.

He might have a data-cellular plan like Sprint offers. It is just a pc card that gets jacked in the side of the laptop and you're pulling data out of the air just like a smartphone. The phones and laptops were the most blatant, but not too much. I wonder...do they have wifi in the middle of the Grand Canal in Venice?

The explicit mentioning of the Omega in the train scene (okay, they also mentioned the competitor, Rolex)
The Ford on the Bahamas arrival was like straight out of a car comercial...
Funny: when Bond orders his Vesper Martini, he mentions two brands: Gordon's and Kinna Lillet - but not Smirnoff Vodka, the actual sponsor (also spotted the unmistakable 'J

Hmm agreed - made me cringe when I read the script. Had hoped it would have been cut.I never really notice product placement, but the "Rolex?" "Omega." Made me cringe...
I thought one of the more blatant product placements which hasn't been mentioned yet was Vesper using the digital camera in Venice.

Those were mentioned simply because those were the ones mentioned in the book. I found it interesting that he specified Kinna Lillet instead of Lillet Blanc as I am given to understand it is currently known.Funny: when Bond orders his Vesper Martini, he mentions two brands: Gordon's and Kinna Lillet - but not Smirnoff Vodka, the actual sponsor
With regard to the Sony products, were the "bad guys" also using Sony products? I could not identify the mobiles they used. Can someone help me out with that?

Certainly, did not find it as intrusive as the scene in Die Another Day where the camera pans over all the brand name products in the hotel room.

"Omega" is possibly the worst example of product placement I've ever seen, or rather heard. When product placement actually interferes with the script, it's gone too bloody far. It's right in the middle of a great scene as well.

I don't really understand this- seemed to flow perfectly well to me. Bond's correcting Vesper because they're trying to one up each other- she mentions his suits so why not his watch?

Yeah but... come on, it's been shoehorned in there, and it made them a lot of money. Just seems so cynical. Takes the piss in factI don't really understand this- seemed to flow perfectly well to me. Let's not forget that their product doesn't get a massive close-up as with all of the previous Bond films they've appeared in, too.
I've got to admit I didn't realise it was pronounced that way, either!
