All 3 of my boxsets sold over the weekend, so I'm Bond movieless for a couple of weeks (well except for DAD that's apparently only worth about $1.99, and NSNA that I'll keep forever).

The thought of that makes me sick.I would be furious if they weren't seperate DVD inside the case, but in some crappy foldout... thing.

Seems odd to me as well. I would be furious if they weren't seperate DVD inside the case, but in some crappy foldout... thing.

Surely they wouldn't....

Here in Los Angeles the larger independent music/DVD stores allow you to trade in your unwanted CDs and DVDs for store credit. My big question is whether I should trade in my old complete set for the new ultimate editions. Is there anything crucial on the old ones that are not going to be carried over to the new editions?
I *believe* all the same special features will be included.

Keeps fingers crossed....

Of course, the old DVDs have the original sound mixes. These new ones have all-new mixes, and some have complained that there are noticeable differences.

I might have to keep the old editions, just to switch out the covers if they go to a fold out package. Just as bad would be to move over to thin cases.
Keeps fingers crossed....
Quite. It's really weird we haven't had the "previews" for these DVDs that we did when the were released in the UK in July.
Perhaps that means they will be the same.

Thanks for this, Zencat. I was unaware that the tried and true old mixes were not being carried over. Whew! Almost made a mistake...

No need to worry. The first two volumes just arrived from Fox by UPS delivery.
I was worried when I saw how thin the packaging was, but highly relieved when I opened volume one.
Fox is using the same slimcase DVD packages that the REMINGTON STEELE season set discs were packaged in. They have the front and back covers that the UK editions had.
In addition the collectible booklets are not in the individual corresponding cases (there's no room) but alongside the cases inside of the box.

I was fearing that. . .
So when Casino Royale comes out in a regular dvd case, they wouldnt match at all. . .
Also, is there one booklet per set, or one per film?
I might actually hae to keep the old versions just so I can have them in regular DVD cases.... (I know I'm crazy)

Do you mean that each movie comes in a thin case?

correct!
I hadn't thought about it matching Casino Royale. But at least it's not a fold-out packaging like a lot of the TV season sets.
There is one collectible booklet per movie.
By the way transferring them to the old cases makes no sense because those old cases only hold one disc. I'm personally happy with the thin DVD cases.

Ugh. Thin cases?
Yes....but it could have been worse Devin.
The booklets look great. I am not sure how much of the info is transferred from the SE DVDs until I compare the two this evening.

I would buy blank 2 disc cases and just make a transfer. I've even thought of buying a region free dvd player to just buy the region 2 release...
Like I said, I am crazy. Also, the regular 2 disc case would allow better storage for all the booklets.

@Mike00spy - you dont need to buy a new DVD player. Just google 'make dvd player region free' and you'll get plenty of website that will give you the codes. I've done this with several DVD players - works like magic. What player do you have?

No

I know it shouldn't be all about the packaging...but when it come to replacing my old set, how they will look on the shelf and grow over time is a factor.
This sucks.

It would have been okay almost if they had at least released them in some logical order, but the names of the movies in the boxes are written on the spine of the box.
Plus the booklets are not in the individiual cases, but sitting alongside.

It's really a shame. No doubt these versions are beautiful and the extras amazing, but with the packaging issue, the specter of HD/Blue-Ray versions, and the ease of renting on Netflix, it's very hard for me to justify buying these.

It's obvious why they are doing this... but still ridiculously poorly thought out.

I'm not crazy about slim cases either, but when it all comes down to it, it's the DVDs themselves that count.

WHAT!!!!???
NoING way am I getting these in slim cases! This is cheap TV series packaging. There is no way to display them individually on a shelf...CR (and the original CR and NSNA) will not match...you will be forced to keep them in their individual boxes in that funky order (if the movies came in order, maybe). Sorry...this is nail in the coffin for me.
I know it shouldn't be all about the packaging...but when it come to replacing my old set, how they will look on the shelf and grow over time is a factor.
This sucks.
I'm with you, zencat.
I can deal with the delayed release date.
I can deal with having to buy them in four separate sets.
I can deal with having no attache case in the US.
But
