Bond Actors on Dalton/Datlon on Bond Actors

I hope this hasn't been discussed recently, but I was curious if we could assemble the various opinions the other actors have of Timothy Dalton's take on Bond.
And also I was wondering if Timothy Dalton has ever commented on the other actors as well.
I've heard all sorts of different things, but nothing solid...
Look forward to your replies!
Thanks!

Of course that interview was done before GoldenEye came out, so perhaps he's seen them since.

Well, Brosnan has mentioned in a few interviews that he's never seen Tim's films, because he's good friends with him, and he wouldnt want to hurt his feelings if he thought the films were bad.
Of course that interview was done before GoldenEye came out, so perhaps he's seen them since.
Roger said the same thing...niether was macho enough to watch themeselves blown off the screen!

I really doubt you'll find actors giving honest critiques of other actors in the role, unless of course they are praise.
Say that to Laz and Broz...

"I met Sean Connery a long time ago in Spain. I know Roger Moore - my late wife was with him in 'For your eyes only'. They were friends. Roger's been very supportive to me. Sean likewise - with the press. I've read some lovely reports. I've known Tim since I first moved to Hollywood. We used to drink at the same place. We'd never talk about this. There's not much point really. I didn't see Tim's work but Tim's a fine actor. It takes a lot of courage to play this role. It's not a thing you enter into lightly because Bond comes with so much baggage. There's a great sense of tradition.'
And this is a snippet from an interview Tim gave a few months ago in the Daily Telegraph:
"Roger was brilliant but the movies had gone a long way from their roots; they had drifted in a way that was chalk and cheese to Sean," says Dalton diplomatically. It was he, as the fourth Bond, who played it straight and re-rooted them. "And I think David Craig will work well," he says. "I think he's going to be terrific, he's got danger and vulnerability."
Thats all I can think of of the top of my head. I know Sean is quoted as saying he thought TD underestimated the role and Roger has always said he hasn't watched a Bond film in years. I know nothing about Lazenby and I cant recall Tim saying anything specific about Pierce

Well, I saw Roger Moore at the premiere for DAD in London, so unless he kept his eyes closed......

He would have seen a better Bond film if he did.Roger has always said he hasn't watched a Bond film in years.

(You were setting someone up with that, weren't you?)

I think this is the quote JimmyBond is referring to from Pierce. This was from 1985 and was a reply to 'have you met any of the other Bonds?'
Actually, the interview I was referring to was from one of those James Bond movie books. I think it's called the "Incredible World of 007" The reviewer asked if he saw Tim's films, and Brosnan replied he hadnt, though he was on a flight with his son and the inflight movie was TLD (I guess he closed his eyes though).

Former Bond actors are like former US presidents; they rarely say anything bad about one another.
In fact, they all seem to know each other.

I remember seeing Moore, Lazenby and Dalton all being very chummy together at the DAD premiere in London.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
And here is Moore, Brosnan and Dalton at Cubby's memorial in 1996.
http://www.klast.net/bond/three.html

and here is another of Moore and Dalton taken sometime when tim was filming Scarlet ( hence the 'tache)

And so far, the nearest one we have had to getting them all together. the Bafta tribute with Micheal Parkinson.

I agree about the American President comment, but lets face it, it is a pretty exclusive club they all belong to.
They do all seem to get along fine. Connery and Moore are friends too. It nice to see them all together from time to time ... if only we could get Connery there, just once.
It would appear the only blip in Bond Harmony seems to be Lazenby and Brosnan.
I wonder when Danny will be able to play with the gang ?

Years later, at the GoldenEye press junket in LA, Brosnan said that Dalton was very good but that he didn't think he was served well by the scripts or director.

This is the type of things actors tend to say. Large pinches of salt are required.

I remember the Brosnan interview regarding "The Living Daylights". He said he couldn't watch it because it was such a personal disappointment to him to have not gotten to play the role. The script that had arrived for him, but I'm not sure if he read it...waiting for the official word that he was Bond before starting in on it.

Interesting...

It's good to hear Timothy like OHMSS. Brosnan has mocked Lazenby a few times.
He did? But why? Because of Laz's acting or what?
Because Laz called him a girl...LOL..

Here's a pic of Sean and Pierce (although this is Tim's forum...

He has said he's thankful Lazenby bore the brunt of being Sean's first replacement.
Dalton also praised OHMSS in the Incredible World of 007 book.
I think the barbs between Lazenby and Brosnan are taken out of context.
In one of the myriad Bond retrospective documentaries Brosnan lamented that "Poor George, he got the short end of the stick." I think meaning just one film and the negative press reaction.
I know there is an interview with Brosnan where he comments on how brave Dalton was to take Bond in the direction he did.
One of the most amusing annecdotes regarding predecessors: When a tv crew showed Brosnan and his wife Keely the Ken and Barbie Bond set, Keely took a look at the Ken as Bond and said "That's not Pierce's nose, that's Dalton's!"

They look like they're having a blast taking that "Bond side by side" photo.
