Pam: Why don't you wait until you've been asked?

Bond: Why don't you ask me?

I just love that scene, along with the closing theme.

Maybe, but they usually end a Bond film on a relaxed note, often with the leading lady. As far as the formula goes, for me, it's a favorite ending.

1. "We have all the time in the world." (On Her Majesty's Secret Service)
2. "I thought Christmas only came once a year." (The World Is Not Enough)
3. "Just keeping the British end up, Sir." (The Spy Who Loved Me)
4. "Take me around the world one more time." (Moonraker)
5. "For your eyes only, Darling." (For Your Eyes Only)

* However, I have a strong feeling that Casino Royale--provided EON stays with the final line of the novel--will be number one or in the top three when it comes out.

"Take me around the world one more time." (Moonraker)

It's a great line in a silly movie that could so easily have spouted some such Christmas comes type of line.

Even the silly movies have better writing than the recent crop - Maibum is sorely missed.

I love "we have all the time in the world".

How exactly was the line in TMWTGG?
Something like "Goodnight, sir", after all that talk with M about Goodnight.
Absolutely Bond, absolutely Moore.

1: Die another Day
Jinx: i'm so good
Bond: escecially when your bad
(even though the movie is pretty crap this line always has me gagging for more)

Jeeez :) I honestly think that's the worst closing line - extremely cringeworthy. Pretty typical of the whole movie to be honest.

I'm part of the group who believe CASINO ROYALE's will be one of the best closing lines, but for the moment, it's ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE for me. Not just for "We have all the time in the world", but for Lazenby's performance of the line - very moving.

I'm afraid my opinion of that line puts it at the extreme other end of the spectrum. :)

Anyway, my favorite is LTK's "Why don't you ask me?" line. Well delivered by Dalton and Lowell, and a nice exit scene for Dalton's Bond.

That line is so haunting and moving...Lazenby's delivery leaves me close to tears. (Yeah, I'll say it, I'll be that guy!)

OK, this is a fun one.

1. "The name is Bond, James Bond", CR. I'd normally say I'd need to wait a couple years to adequately judge the impact of this movie in relation to the others, but I can't not give this number 1. After watching the pieces fall into place, Bond is truly back, and I couldn't be happier. Also, the bond theme starting to kick in doesn't hurt either.
2. "We have all the time in the world", OHMSS. Exactly the opposite of CR IMO. I've never seen Bond quite as broken as he was during that scene, and we likely will never again. On account of this moment alone I simply can't give Lazenby too much heckling. He made it work beautifully. Leaving the bullet hole throughout the rest of the credits only heightened the line's impact.
3. "So why don't you ask me?", LTK. For once, Bond doesn't precede his traditional end of the film love fest w/ a hackneyed one liner. No, this line, while still having wit, feels much more believable, honest, and ultimately more romantic. Now these are the sorta lines I can picture Bond using to sweep the ladies off their feet :)
4. "Keeping the British End Up", TSWLM. Pure Moore, and IMO the most epic cheesy one lineer to ever end a Bond movie. Sure he's end quipped M before, but now he quips both M AND General Gogol! That's what I call epic. The happy go lucky rendition of "Nobody does it Better" at the end, maintains the cheese level of the moment throughout the opening of the credits.
5. "LOL", LALD. Possibly not the most popular of choices, but a personal fav. It just did a great job of reaffirming the fact that this was, and to this day is, Bond's only venture in the realm of the truly supernatural.

Honorable Mention to "Christmas only comes once a year", TWINE. Sorry, but just the sheer logistics of that pun. I'm positive the writers came up w/ Christmas Jones just because they wanted to put that line in.

Sorry for the long post, I get carried away sometimes :P

Indeed, it's now the best ending. Still, I still love the last lines of TSWLM and TWINE, both good fun.

Funniest final line - the very loud and over-the-top "James!!!!" at the very end of Octopussy....

Left off the other four a couple years ago, it would seem.

1. "The name's Bond. James Bond." - Seriously, not since Dr. No has that line sounded so fantastic.

2. "There's no hurry, you see. We have all the time in the world." - I'll stand by what I said about Laz's delivery. Coupled with Fleming's chilling words, it's the most heartfelt ending in the series.

3. "This is no time to be rescued!" - I'll admit, it's a pretty classic ending.

4. "Keeping the British end up, sir!" - Gotta love Rog. Priceless line delivery, as usual.

5. "I'll show you." - Right there in the gondola.
