Has anyone ever noticed the amazing similarities between the James Bond movies and Dukes of Hazzard? Here's a side by side comparison...
1. A lead Actor in Dukes is named "James Best" which sounds very similar to "James Bond" - & both have the SAME initials.
2. Lead Actress in Dukes: Catherine BACH, one of the best Bond girls is Barbarah BACH.
3. Both Dukes and Bond feature cool cars as central to their motif.
4. The General is a classic American muscle car from the 60's, the Aston Marin is a classic British car from the 1960's.
5. Both the Dukes and Bond must confront evil organizations.
6. A key villain in Dukes owns a pet dog, the key villain in Bond owns a pet cat.
7. The Dukes features 2 main male lead characters which is (amazingly) exactly 2x the number of lead male characters in Bond.
8. The first two letters in "Bond" are "Bo" - one of the lead characters in Dukes is named "Bo".
9. Dukes is a title of British aristocracy, Bond works for the British Government - Her Majesty's Secret Service.
10. Bond carries a gun, Bo and Luke are forbidden from carrying ANY gun.
11. Stunts are central to both Dukes and Bond!
12. Bond has M, the Dukes have Uncle Jesse.
13. Both feature beautiful women in skimpy clothing.
14. Bloefeld always wears a gray suit, Boss Hogg always wears a white suit.
15. Bond has a British accent, Bo and Luke a southern accent.
16. Portions of GF and LALD take place in the south of the U.S. Dukes takes place in the south of the U.S.
17. Bond flirts with Money Penny, the Dukes have only a few pennies in the Bank.
18. Both franchises have actors still living, and some have passed away!

It seems to me, the connection is undeniable!

Spooky, huh?

Regards

Sorry Daddybond, this is a real stretch (and i'm a huge Dukes fan too), but honestly I really don't see that much of a connection between James Bond and Bo and Luke Duke..

I personally see more of a connection between Knight Rider and Bond.. a lot of KITT's gadgets were I'm sure inspired by Bond's Aston Martin.. i.e. they both have ejection seats, both have oil slick and smoke screen ect.. And I think Michael Knight could be sort of an Americanized 007.. and Devon Miles, a perfect M for Hasselhoff.. Edward Mulhare, I think, would have made a very good M in the Bond films, had the producers not went with Robert Brown to take over Bernard Lee.

To the Dove:

You doubt? How about the fact that Dukes ran for "7" seasons, the same number as our favorite superspy - 007?

Somebody call Oliver Stone.

Not since JFK have so many unquestionable facts made me rethink a topic.

Spooky indeed.

Coincidence.. (or maybe not! you got me there!!) Your comparisons are valid, and are eerie in a way, (i'm not trying to put you down or anything).. I just personally don't really connect Dukes of Hazzard to James Bond.. Lol I can just see Blofeld on the CB: "This is Ernst Stavroooo Blofeld! I'm in HOT Pursuit of 007!! I love it!!! " hee hee :D

Another Knight Rider/ 007 comparsion: April Curtis and Bonnie Barstow: Combination of Moneypenny and Q, although I see April more of the Moneypenny role, and Bonnie more of the Q part (she was the one who rebuilt and redeveloped KITT, with his Super Pursuit Mode, after he got destroyed in Season 3)

You know Dove, maybe we're BOTH right. Maybe Knight Rider is just a Re-Boot of Dukes of Hazzard?

Change the General to a Pontiac.
Make the car black instead of orange.
Replace Cooter with April/Bonnie
Replace Uncle Jesse with Devon.
Add some gadgets and voila! you have Knight Rider!

How 'bout that!

WOAH!! Now thats scary Daddy Bond!! but it makes sense to me! Dukes ran from 1979-1985, and Knight Rider didn't begin until 1982.. Maybe some thoughts behind the series were to make it a more urbanized and street-wise Dukes lol..I'm sure that if I thought about all my favorite 80's shows I'm sure there is some connection between them all and Bond!! I'll next ponder Miami Vice!!

Perhaps they could make a Bond/Dukes/Knight Rider crossover movie?

OK, encough silliness. Back to real Bond stuff...

In the Dukes of Hazzard movie, Jessica Simpson sings "These Boots are made for walking", a song by Nancy Sinatra who sang "You Only Live Twice".

You're right, doublenoughtspy, another Bond connection there. I was SO offended by Jessica Simpsons version of that song!! Another reason why I refused to go and see that god-awful remake movie!!

Wow! The original Dukes TV show was no high art and was not very brainy, but fun. The new movie is beyond stupid and has little to do with the original - except for the car.

Here's a comparison:

TV Show:
Bo and Luke are cleancut gool ol' boys
Movie:
Bo and Luke are perverted jerks

TV Show:
Boss Hogg is fat, mean but not too mean and funny.
Movie:
Boss Hogg is skinny and only mean.

TV Show:
Roscoe was hillarious
Movie:
Roscoe is just mean

TV Show:
Uncle Jesse is moral God-fearing man.
Movie:
Uncle Jesse has few moral standards.

TV Show:
Uncle Jesse doesn't have a girl friend.
Movie:
Uncle Jesse's girlfriend is Lynda Carter! How could Willie Nelson hook up with a babe like Lynda Carter who still looks great in her 50's?

TV Show:
Family oriented
Movie:
Dirty, foul language and perverted

TV Show:
Daisy is sexy but a decent girl. By the way, this may surprise some, but Bach is actually a VERY good actress - it pops up every once in a while especially later in the show - I'm actually serious about that.
Movie:
Daisy is sexy and a tramp and a bad actress. Jessica Simpson may be beautiful but she's trashy, irritating, arrogant, full of herself and a bad actress.

I could go on, but I digress. What does this have to do with Bond? Well, nothing I guess. Just venting irritation at a really terrible movie.

Regards

THANK YOU Daddybond!! my thoughts exactly!! :D

I've got my fingers crossed that the new Miami Vice movie (with Colin Farrel and Jamie Foxx) will be ten times better than that Dukes movie. And from the trailer, it looks like we're safe!! But you never know!!

Be aware a Knight Rider movie is also in the make (and I believe that Hasselhoff wants to return, half to see how his marital problems affect his role)...

I've also heard rumors of a potential A-Team movie, and the Dallas movie is going ahead (with John Travolta stepping into the shoes of J.R. Ewing!!) God has Hollywood lost all imagination or what!!! :D

I actually found the movie somewhat entertaining (I know I'm definitely in the minority on that). At the very least it had a great soundtrack.

Okay, appartently there are some skeptics out there about the James Bond and Dukes of Hazzard connection.

Here are some more spooky similarities.

1. Both Catherine Bach, who plays Daisy Duke and Roger Moore (playing a spoof on Bond) appear in Cannonball Run. There you go - a Duke and Bond in the SAME MOVIE!!!
2. Both Dukes and Bond (LALD, TMWTGG) have featured Southern law-men.
3. Sgt. Pepper in TMWGG gives a Southern holler when Bond jumps his American made car over the river. Bo Duke gives a Southers "Yee Haw" when he jumps his red American car.
4. The name "Ernesto" from Bond, has the letters "Enos" in it. Enos is a deputy on Dukes of Hazzard.
5. As someone else pointed out, Cooter from Dukes and Q from Bond play similar roles.
6. An episode of Dukes has the Dukes using hang gliders - similar to Bond in Moonraker.
7. More than one episode of the Dukes of Hazzard has had the word "Gold" in the episode title. Bond has had "Goldfinger", "The Man with the Golden Gun" and "Goldeneye".

I settle my case

Oh, and regarding the Dukes and Knight Rider connection - it actually is true that many of the same stuntment worked on both shows.

Ahh I just remembered a connection with Bond and Dukes, Daddy Bond.. Clifton James (J.W. Pepper) appeared in one of the Dukes episodes as one of the many Roscoe replacement sherrifs (others including Darren Stevens of Bewitched, and James Hampton) when James Best was on his strike from the series.
