What do you think is the most underrated Pierce Brosnan film? I think it's Tomorrow Never Dies. I watched it again tonight and I find it really enjoyable and a great film despite all of the production problems it had. It is my second favorite Pierce Brosnan film next to The World is Not Enough. What do you think?

Tomorrow Never Dies.

I consider it the best of the Pierce Brosnan films and one that it sometimes considered a lesser Bond film (or rather not as good as the "almighty" GoldenEye) for the action scenes.

I enjoy both halves of it (alot of fans seem to only pick one half of this film) and find it thoroughly entertaining.

TND for me as well. It's the most straightforward of the Brosnan films and doesn't go to extreme lengths to try to humanize Bond or stick in a bunch of subplots. It's the tried-and-true Bond races the clock to prevent WWIII formula and it works

Some label it all action but it seems to have just the right balance of action, personal stuff and spying. And the action is some of the best in the series. Brosnan is at his best in this.

Far be it from me to disagree with the group. I instantly thought TND upon reading the thread title.

i didn't mind TND on first release, but then again i was a testosterone fueled teenager. Even today it is good, but i think that other films did it better.
My personal under rated film is TWINE, i liked what they were trying to do and although in places the did fail, Christmas, Brosnan's anguish, other elements I enjoyed because they were fresh to the film series, I like the idea of M being kidnapped and a slightly more personal involvement in the plot for everyone.
Plus there appears to be a female OO which is kinda cool too  lol

Tomorrow Never Dies definately. It may be nothing but an actio film starring Bond, but you know what? The film isnt pretending to be anything but that, and it's definately not as pretentious as The World Is Not Enough.

Tomorrow Never Dies is my #2, and I've never understood what people didn't like about it.

Goldeneye could never argue to be underrated, and while TWINE and DAD have their enjoyable moments, TND is the one Brosnan movie I'll never tire of.

To be honest, the only Brosnan Bond movie I love is GoldenEye so I had to pick none of them -- because it seems GoldenEye gets a lot of loving, rightly so.

I voted TND, because although I think it gets the highest marks on average from Bond fans (those who loathe GE tend to like DAD, and vice-versa, I've observed), it also catches a lot of flak, but I was expecting TWINE to be in the lead, simply because it seems even more ridiculously unpopular than DAD. And I just can't relate to that mentality, since I was able to look past TWINE's weaknesses every so often, whereas with DAD I couldn't past Halle Berry's entrance.

TND is just Pierce at his most comfortable and all-around best, doing humor and mindless action without getting bogged down by dodgy CGI and those "sensitive" moments. Most lost potential of the Brosnan run, hands down.

(as it stands) A majority of 5 is a landslide?

You should go into politics.

The prospect of Tomorrow Never Dies actually (as you say) in a landslide is a pleasing one.

TND is not only the most underatted Brosnan film its the only Bond film that leave me breathless and put me on the edge of my seat with its fantastic action sequence from start to finish. One of the best action film of the 90s and one of best Bond film ever.

While I really like GoldenEye and Tomorrow Never Dies, I think the one that is most underrated by people/Bond fans is TND. (I think The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day are overly criticized--and harshly too--but they are not as good as TND which does not seem to get the respect and plaudits of--the admittedly great--GoldenEye. The PTS of TND is a suspense-filled classic. Although the film does drag a little in the final reel, most everything works in this adventure and it is filled with memorable Bondian moments. Yes, it is heavy on action and Bond does get a little AK-47 happy in the finale, but the film is entertaining throughout and Pierce Brosnan and Michelle Yeoh are great.

I picked non of them are... if I had to pick one, I'd probably run with Tomorrow Never Dies. Goldeney isn't underrated at all, Die Another Day and The World Is Not Enough not much loved for good reasons - whereas TND sort of comes across as GoldenEye+.

I'm pretty much with you on this one, DLib.

GE is my favorite Brosnan Bond film, and I think it generally gets its due.

I don't care for most of TND (it has a few great moments, but way too much action just for the sake of action, and some things that absolutely drive me nuts). For me it tries to make Bond into too much of a super-action-hero.

Of Brosnan's films, TWINE ranks second for me, but that's pretty much by default. (I like it better than TND and DAD, but not nearly as much as GE).

And then there's DAD. It seems to get abuse from some and love from a few. And that sort of follows how I feel about it, I love parts and get incredibled bored by others [car chase in ice palace, fighting on plane near end, for example].

So I had to pick 'none' as underrated...

I think that DAD is perhaps the most underrated of Brosnan's Bond films. I would argue that it had the potential to be really good. Unfortunately it was hampered by trying to reference every Bond film ever made in light of being 'Bond 20'. It also lost the focus of a revenge spy drama it suggested in the first hour and turned into a science fiction escapade. The poor CGI didn't help either. There is nothing inherently wrong with CGI; it's a useful tool to modern filmmaking. However, Bond is not a comic book hero like Spiderman, where it would be virtually impossible to make without CGI. CGI should be used only to enhance stunt work not replace it in the Bond films.

For me the most underrated is Die Another Day - for Bond fans that is - not the audiences, as they ranked it the second most popular in the series history and quite rightly, as I think it is exactly as a Bond film should be. Tomorrow Never Dies to me doesn't seem to be underrated, though it should be, as it is an empty film and uninvolving.

Box office isnt a good indicator KC. If you read the user reviews at IMDB Die Another Day is actually considered the worst Bond film by many of the users there.

I agree on all counts. GoldenEye is my favourite Pierce Brosnan Bond film by some distance. While TND (Bond waits in his hotel room), TWINE (The boat chase), & DAD (Bond enters a Hong Kong hotel in sodden pjyamas) have their high moments, they do not come close to GE overall. None of them are underrated, in my opinion.

None.

GoldenEye is clearly Brosnan's best in my opinion. The rest I feel get the right amount of love and dislike that they deserve.

Actually IMDB is not a good indicator of general popularity--just measures mostly rabid fans and not the general one. DAD was popular but KC is correct that is it grossly underrated in hardcore circles. In fact DAD is one of the most underrated of all Bonds.

I had to vote for the TWINE, given some of the negative comments I've seen written about it in my time here.

TWINE is the best Brosnan Bond film in my eyes, and I'll never forget how seeing it at the cinema brightened up my otherwise miserable first year at University back in 1999.

I voted for TWINE which wins out by a fraction over Goldeneye. Brosnan was superb, tough, ( it's not often he shoots a woman in cold blood!) gritty and yet still suave!
