Excellent news- a very beautiful bit of landscape.

It seems Casino Royale is going to look a lot better than the previous several films. Probably only GoldenEye comes close.

Let's hope the weather holds off and they don't get inspired to digitally grade it (read, [censored] it up) to turn a wet afternoon into 'dawn chorus over the amazon'.

The place where Anakin and Padme hide and get closer for the first time.

Oh, right.

(I was asleep).

Wonder what "they" will use it for? Another "doomed romance"? Not that I'm casting aspersions on the Jolie-Pitts, y'understand.

Yeah, me too. I think everybody was. Come to think of it, I was asleep when they used this place in Ocean's Twelve.

But I don't think that anyone will be asleep come Casino Royale. Except for all those Craig bashers.

An absolute beautiful location, I've been to Lake Como and it's stunning! (Villa d'este was in Never Send Flowers)
Thank goodness they're not using Venice - again !!!
Things are looking up

Personally, I doubt that this would be the casino. I believe that one of the IGN reports described Le Casino Royale as "a structure of fading grandeur dominating a hilltop town in Montenegro", and this doesn't really fit the bill. I think there was speculation a few weeks ago that the exterior of the casino may either be in Karlovy Vary or Loket in the Czech Republic. However, who knows, the producers may have decided that they wanted a lakeside location for the casino instead. My hunch however is that this Italian location will feature towards the end of the film.

I suppose the casino itself could be a mixture of all sorts of locations; some interiors Italy/studio, outside of it that castle in the Czech Republic etc. Wouldn't be too surprised.

Mistake in the article. The Villa only appeared in Star Wars Episode II not Episode III.

Dude i love the 'sleeping' threw star wars bit, very true those movies could have been cut down alot, its a nice place though and has good prospect for a bond movie.

Maybe George will let them stay at his place.

:D

Truly though, it is some very elegant and almost picturesque lake and land around there.

I recall my folks taking a trip and seeing the lake and pictures they took (granted, this was 15+ years ago) of the village and estates.

Thank the powers that be for giving us that - as Michael G. once said - "World that's a bit brighter, more luxurious and elegant" feel with the globe hopping locales.

Great

I had the very good fortune to go on a boat ride around Lake Como a few years ago and the scenery there is stunning. It's definitely a great location for a Bond film.

Pretty sure it's Episode II not Episode III.

...and if I would have read more of this thread I would have seen someone pointed that out already.

One would hope... however is it TOO luxurious? Most will know from the novel that Bond and Vesper settle for shacking up in some quiet seaside apartments in southern France. But hey, they're still consistently surprising us all.
