The Daniel Craig/Nicole Kidman/Jeffrey Wright sci-fi horror flick THE VISITING has now been moved from its 2006 release to 07.

Probably not a good thing as far as Craig and Casino Royale are concerned, as this would have given Craig some important exposure to mainstream audiences before CR's release. As it is now, he only has the indie flick Infamous (in which he's part of a big ensemble cast) out in October.

They wanna profit off his new noteriety. A smart business move for them. :D

I didn't know Felix Leiter was in it. Cool. They should have some good chemstry in CR since they already know each other. :D

The marketing campaign for The Visiting is going to have "James Bond" written everywhere. Good for The Visiting, bad for Casino Royale.

Yeah, I think seeing this film first might have possibly helped Casino Royale. Still, I think the public is still slowly getting more and more acquanted with him and the new Bond role.

I don't know. I kind of see this as potentially a good thing. So far EON has been lucky that Craig has been critically acclaimed for most of his roles, at least two of his most recent - considering the more recent hubbub about him. The same two films were also pretty much critically acclaimed. What if ... The Visiting sucks. Maybe not Craig, but the film. It potentially could have a negative effect. You never know though.

This is probably a smart business move for them anyway. I never really cared for the film idea. I mean yet another Invasion of the Body Snatchers type of story. Hell theres already a TV show....

Yes, I am sure this ploy is supposed to play off the "coattails" of CASINO ROYALE, which is not such a good move since I believe the 007 movie will be a total flop.

This clearly proves that Craig is not Bond!

:D I agree alas. Let's hear it for Pierce in DAD2 in 2008/9 :D

Looks like The Visiting, the sci-fi starring Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig has had it's August release date moved. But to when?

You will release this film in 2006...

..I can't wait for this flick. The 1978 version of 'Invasion Of The Body Snatchers' is one of my favourite sci-fi/horror movies and the ending gave me nightmare's for days afterwards when i saw it as a kid. If this is half as good, we'll be in for a treat.

watch the original it's even better...stear clear of the 1993 version though, nice idea, good (indie) director and cast, bad execution...

I've seen Don Siegal's original many times and as brilliant as it is, it's Philip Kaufman's remake that just edges it for me. I love the way he (Kaufman) creates an unnerving sense of paranoia and forboding through subtle, yet effect direction. On the fascinating dvd audio commentary, he reveals how he walked through the streets of San Francisco filming Donald Sutherland with a handheld camera hidden inside a rolled up newspaper to create a sense of paranoid despair and claustrophobia - it works extremely well. I also love how he never eases up on the tension and just when you think there's light at the end of the tunnel, he hits you with that ending. My fianc

I wouldn't be surprised to see it debut in theatres on November 17  Anyway, The Visiting's new release date is January 26 in the US. You can read one of two things into this - either they've put it in the relatively low-key month of January because its commercial prospects are somewhat limited (either its too arthouse or too, erm, crap), or they're moving it closer to Casino Royale to cash in on the buzz surrounding Jeffrey Wright. Erm, no, I mean the other bloke.

In Britain it comes out at the start of February, and the studio delayed it apparently so as to capitalise of Daniel Craig as Bond, as well as Jeffery Wright being in it, apparently there thinking after Casino Royale people are going to want to see more of the two of them so their film will attract in the fans of Casino Royale (which should be a large number if the film is as good as previous Daniel Craig films such as Layer Cake and Munich)

Yes i read that too, did you read the bit in the CR preview where they say that when Daniel Craig was cast, rather than thinking the usual tabloid crap they thought that he was too good an actor to be in Bond, and where they say that he's Britains "Best Kept Secret". Oddly enough Total Film also have this feeling towards him, that whole attitude that Bond has gone up in class with the casting of Daniel Craig, shows what the tabloids knows doesn't it!

Apologies for going slightly off topic, i am fascinated by "The Visiting" mostly because i've always felt that Nicole Kidman would make an excellent Bond girl and this is likley the closest i'm gonna get to seeing that

Are you sure? Before yesterday it was supposed to be out in January in the States. Delayed practically the whole year. I think it's a wide release so in Britain it probably got delayed too.

Well in the empire issue with Daniel on the cover it has a large section on upcoming films, and they have The Visiting listed as their big release for february

Damn, shame they delayed it. I am itching to watch this. I am a huge "Body Snatchers" fan - have them all on DVD. I'm glad The Visiting seems to be bringing something new to the table, as all the others also had their own identity. The fact Craig is in it, is merely icing on the cake for me.
