I think we have our Vesper.Wasn't the Mail the first paper to report it was Craig?
Yes, I think so. As well as the first paper to report that Brosnan had been dropped.
Also, Stax has started a thread asking "What do you think of Rose Byrne as Vesper?". Hmmm....
I hope you're right. I think that she'll be a fantastic Vesper Lynd.

Quite possibly.
If the rumours are true that Byrne, this Caroline Munro woman (you know who I mean), and those two (French?) guys whose names I haven't yet bothered to commit to memory have all been cast, it looks as though CASINO ROYALE will be the least star-studded film in the series since LICENCE TO KILL.
Which I'm more than happy with. Vesper in particular needs to be played by someone with absolutely no "star baggage", since the audience must be kept guessing about the character and - as Bond does - approach her "fresh". Someone like Angelina Jolie, Sienna Miller, Thandie Newton, Naomi Watts or Catherine Zeta-Jones would have been quite wrong, IMO (as well as likely to take too much of the limelight away from Craig), and I'm pleased that Sony and Eon have seemingly been focusing their search on little-known actresses.
Presumably there'll be a start-of-shooting press conference soon, at which all the casting news will be officially revealed (or should I say confirmed?). I wonder where it'll take place. London? But where will they start filming? The UK, the Bahamas, Italy....? Will the location of the conference depend on that?

I am not too familiar with her, but she certainly looks the part. I looked up her filmography at the imdb. Actually, it's not bad at all. She has appeared in Troy, Wicker Park, Star Wars: Episode II Attack Of The Clones, and in Casanova (TV series).

"Her hair was very balck, and she wore it cut square and low on the nape of her neck, framing her face to below the clear and beautiful line of her jaw. [...] Her eyes were wide apart and deep blue. [...] Her skin was lightly sun-tanned and bore no trace of makeup, expect on her mouth which was wide and sensual. (Chapter 5)"
I still say that Fleming had a picture of Charlize Theron next to him while he was writing the book, but Rose Byrne is still an exelent choice.

This is, imo, the perfect choice.... I remember thinking when I was watching Troy....

Good to hear this, I just wasn't paying that much attention to TROY, even the relatively good scenes between Byrne and Pitt. It's all a mai-tai haze...

BTW, I think she's one of Padme's "doubles" in EPII (Dorme).

I'd say Daylights even (as LTK did have that Sanchez chap from all those TV Movies, David Hedison and that country and western singer at least), although Daylights did have Joe Don B and Jeroen Krabbe who was a bit of a Euro hit. GoldenEye was pretty star-less (I don't count Brosnan, but Mr Bean could be a bit of a stumbler), though. Oh dang, Judi Dench. Mind you, Casino's got her too.
Anyway- yes; I like Miss Byrne; very believable, very sexy.

I'm sure the press conference will be held either at a London hotel, or at Pinewood Studios.
I just hope they don't arrive by speedboat this time.
