The megastar site stated that Angelina Jolie is in talks for the Vesper Lynd role. Can anyone verify this?

I guess we all have an opinion about this one.

As for me, I think that she's really hot! But I can't picture her in this role. How about you?

And also, if she does get cast, I would say that this move has more to financial connotations to it than anything else. Heck, this movie is sure to be a box-office hit just based on her star-power alone. But I'm afraid that starpower is going to overshadow what this movie really is: a Bond film.

Any thought?

Isn't the movie Casino Royale and not the dreaded Tomb Raider movies. Seriously, EON won't and shouldn't consider this actress. Her popularity is in full blossom(hmm just like Halle) but we need an European actress to step into Vesper's high heels. If you want an actress of Jolie's calibur that is well known just go with Monica Bellucci.

On second thought i would most like to have another Izabella. Just make sure she is British, beautiful, and in relative comparison to Craig's age or age percieved in the film.

She may have been a good choice back when she was an up-and-comer, but Angie, as much as I love her, is a bit too high profile for Bond now.

Audiences would be more focused on Jolie rather than on the new Bond, which probably isn't a very good welcoming for Craig's first outing (then again, it hasn't exactly been hunky-dory for him for the past four days).

I, personally, don't find Angelina Jolie very attractive, and furthermore don't think she'd be a great Vesper. I'd prefer someone much more low-profile.

I can't believe they'd cast Jolie for many of the reasons stated above. I thought I read many years ago that Faye Dunaway was considered for a time for The Spy Who Loved Me, but that Albert R. Broccoli dispensed with the idea, deciding to "spend the money up on the screen."

I'm sure this rumor has as much plausibility as the Mel gibson as 007 rumors 10 years ago. However I would LOVE to see Angelina in a Bond movie. She NEEDS to be in a Bond movie, but not as Versper Lynd in Casino Royale. I see her in much more of a Fiona Volpe/Fatima Blush type baddie character. If Eon were to pull an OHMSS and hire a more well known leading lady - I think someone like charlize Theron would be a better fit for Vesper Lynd.

Bond girl the real attraction in Casino Royale?
Angelina Jolie, she's been menstioned as possibly being in the film.

Now, if she was in it, I can tell you know, she'll be the reason most people I know would watch the film, I have a feeling they will cast a big familar actress thus to sell off to US audiences, they won't come to see Craig as Bond, but the Bond girl, is this Sony/EON's way to pump up the box office I think. They did it with Halle Berry in DAD, but she wasn't needed in that.

I would be disappointed a bit, Bond girls, the best ones have been unknowns, discovered, I love Jolie, but if someone like her is cast, it pretty much means Sony know the brosnanless factor might need a star woman in the role.

Jolie would be less expensive then hiring Brosnan.I have a feeling that craig's appoinment as Bond mean finding bigger names as supporting actresses and actors.

Diana Rigg was the best thing about OHMSS, I see something similar happening for Casino maybe.

Well, Craig was in the first Tomb Raider film, so they do have some experience together.

I'm not sold on the idea, but I don't hate it either.

She is the only thing that makes me disgust a film (since she disgusts me)... so if Jolie were to be in Casino Royale, I will NOT see this film. It will be the first 007 film that I will never watch (which would be a shame, considering it will be being Craig's first).

On the other hand: I think this news of Jolie is not true. Daniel Craig worked with her in Tomb Raider. Daniel Craig also worked with Sienna Miller in Layer Cake -- she was rumored as well. Both of these actresses are being rumored because it's PR baby, they're going to get some "advertising" off of their co-star's recent "success". I think this is BS.

Seems this is the most likely scenario. Though you gotta admit, EON has gotten into a routine of hiring at least one "name" actress as a Bond girl (sure, Teri Hatcher is'nt as big as Halle Berry, but they are still both "name" actresses).

You never know.

I don't think that Angelina Jolie would be right at all for the role of Vesper Lynd. If they have to get someone that people would recognize, then I'd rather see them go with someone like Elizabeth Hurley or, if they want someone younger, Diane Kruger. I would prefer an unknown (Olivia Lee) for the role, however.

Cecile De France (sp, I'm sure), who starred in that French slasher pic HIGH TENSION would seem to be a good fit, I've only seen the preview to HT but she captured the camera similar to how Craig does. Anyone actually seen the movie?

I agree with this, but I'm not so sure they need an unknown actress. Isabella turned out good, but at the same time they're introducing a new actor as Bond that is relatively unknown. I think a familiar face (known, but not a lot of star power) is a must.

I'm in your exact same position. Movies with her disgust me because she disgusts me. If she were to be in the movie, just like you, I would never even buy the DVD. I would not watch the movie, period.
I, too, think it's more of a matter of people trying to link to CR actresses that for one reason (tomb raider) or another (god knows lol ) have dealt with Craig.
I don't think it's, and I seriously HOPE it's not, true.
PS: must mention that every single newspaper here in Italy is reporting the same rumour. Which is why my tea tasted really bad this morning. lol

I hope not...They should go with somone less well known. I want the focus of this movie to be on Bond, not the actress playing the Bond girl or the fx, just Bond. Establish Craig, and work from there. Besides, she would make a great Catwoman.
