I think that after Casino Royale, EON should do a remake of From Russia With Love
Didn't EON already partially and unofficially remake From Russia With Love with both For Your Eyes Only and The Living Daylights?
Anyway, the original film version was already very faithful to the novel. If they were going to remake any older Bond film it should be one of the ones that wasn't very faithful to the original novel like Diamonds Are Forever, You Only Live Twice or Moonraker, as much as I love those 3 flicks.

Die Another Day was in a way their new Moonraker.

Why remake the best Bond movie EVER? That would be sheer stupidity. Then again with the Broccoli brat running the show, I wouldn't be surprised if such a decision is made. If they ever want to remake any Fleming title they should start with abominations like "Moonraker" and "(From)A View To A Kill."From Russia WIth Love remake?
It can be turned into a Bond 22 movie!

Qwerty called it. Having just read Moonraker, there's some good similarities between it and DAD. Not the ice palace, of course...
And I'm certainly not trying to start an argument, I just want to hear the perspective behind it. How are TLD and FYEO remakes of FRWL?

There's plenty of material to do judging from gardner and benson novels, if they want to tell proper stories, and execute the films right, bond can go on for longer.

If Bond is no longer looking forward to things it hasn't done before, then it's time to stop making the films.

Agreed. If EON gets to the point where they want to make an all-out remake of a film that's already been done, then I'd rather see the franchise come to an end than retread on what's already been done before.

That said, I would be quite happy to see more faithful adaptations of books like LALD that ended up very different as films. If that happened, however, they should use different titles (like The Undertaker's Wind for LALD, perhaps) to differentiate them. Any new films like this would have to have the courage to be their own film and do something different. Otherwise, we might as well whip out our old DVDs again!
