We've talked about the actors. We've talked about the films. We have talked about the action. We have talked about the one liners.

Now is the time to discuss what is the most romantic moment in Bond. The only guide that I will toss out is that there is a difference between a romantic moment and a sexy moment. We will cover sexy moments later.

I will let a few people answer first, and then I will chime in with my own answer.

Happy hunting.

how about the bit in TMWTGG (i think) between 007 and Goodnight when Bond says "to this moment and the moment yet to come" ?
incidentally, what is that quote in its original language?

Okay, my 'non-Tracy' most romantic moment would be the moonlight swim at the end of FYEO. One of the few endings that Bond doesn't just jump in the sack with the girl.

There are several scenes in OHMSS. From the meeting in Tracy's room, to his wiping away her tears at Draco's party to the ice rink scene to the barn scene, this film can't be beat for romance.

The other one that stands out to me is in Thunderball when Bond takes Domino on the dance floor. The woman knows she's trapped and is cautiously pouring her heart out to him despite the threatening Largo and his minions being all over the place. It shows why women love Bond and trust him, knowing he'll eventually free her.

And the CBN forums are better for such diverse topics.

The most romantic moment? Probably when Bond and Tracy are talking sweet nothings while snowbound in the barn in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

Never seen anything like it before, or since, because I don't think that sort of thing suited any of the other Bond, present one included.

A 'non-Tracy' romantic moment is hard to find. I'll cautiously say the 'quiche scene' in A View to a Kill.

Boy will I ever regret saying that! ^_^

I would have to say the proposal scene in OHMSS. Give me some time, and I'll come back with my "non-Tracy" most romantic moment.

Not so much as a romantic moment, But more of a sad one could be when Della 'offers' the opportunity to Bond to catch her leg thingy (Bond fans know what I mean) and he refuses ("The next one who cathces this is the next one who..." "No"). When Della asks Felix why and he reminds us that "He was married once, but that was a long time ago", you can't help but remember that sad and yet, romantic moment.

LOL.

I thought it was a protest along the lines of NAT, and that I'd missed a comment somewhere of yours re Kara/Kira.

Jim...why are you this cruel to Pierce? What did he ever do to you? :-)

I loved the scenes Kara, and I love the moment went TD's Bond comforts Kara after she wonders if she will ever see him again, and he, with a wonderful smile says, "You will."

I would think that, apart from the ending of OHMSS, when Tracy gets shot and Bond says "It's alright, it's quite alright. We have all the time in the world" that it would be......Let me get back to you on that, there are not that many that stand out as much as those in OHMSS!

LOL, guilty as charged. But you know better than most, that sometimes the joke is solely made for the amusement of the maker. ;-)

I like that little bit in "The Living Daylights," when, after Bond exlaims, "Are you calling me a horse's :)?" he hugs Kara. The camera holds on Timothy Dalton's face, and there's an expression there that seems to broadcast, "I love this girl." Great moment--and proof of Dalton's acting abilities.

Also, even though it isn't a real wedding, the wedding scene in "You Only Live Twice" is stunningly beautiful and just dripping with romance.

That's on the spot, Dr K. 'We have all the time in the world.' is by far the most romantic moment of the Bond films and books. It's sad as all get out, but a moment of true love if there ever was one.

Xenobia, you old romantic you. I use old in the loosest possible sense there.

Bet you weren't thinking of wall to wall Lazenby when you started it though.

End of OHMSS is one moment. Dalton and Kara and the keyring.

Well, no one ever said that James Bond must be in the 'moment', so to add in a little variety I'd say the most romantic non-bond scene is the end scene of Moonraker with Jaws and his girlfriend (does she have a name?). You see, I've always taken it that Jaws and she knew that they were being left to die upon re-entry, and Jaws made the best of the situation.

Yes a woman would start this topic....because as a woman I am smart enough to see the many layers to Bond's character! Take that! ;-)

Seriously...I knew that Tracy Bond would factor a lot into this discussion and yes, the scene in the barn is very romantic but the one that does it for me is.....

Are you ready to be shocked.....

Bond with Kira in TLD. When Bond is with her in the the fairgrounds, before Saunders is killed, it is almost as if he has forgotten everything else in the world and he is happy with the woman he is with and happy with himself. Bond and Kira are just two young folks on a date in a romantic city. It was very sweet and very real to me. And I believe it is the longest period of time where we see Bond smile and laugh.

OK...now everyone pick themselves up and keep posting! :)

Actually, there's a line a few minutes later in the control room scene where somebody says something about two survivors (I think they specifically say "a tall man and a blonde woman", but I'm not sure) being picked up out of some wreckage in the ocean so I've always assumed they lived.

Anyway, all the moments that struck me as being distinctly romantic have already been covered (Bond and Tracy, Bond and Kara).

I did not bother looking at what other CBNers wrote because I wanted to post my 2 cents so bad. It would have to be in Octopussy, when Octopussy gets angry and runs away from Bond. Bond walks in and turns her around and they begin to passionatley kiss. She resists, but I guess it dons on her that shes kissing James Bond. :) Such a classic moment.
