Martine McCutcheon would be an excellent choice for Moneypenny. Not sure if anyone as already said this but, either way check her out!

i agree she would be a good Moneypenny. When i was watching Love Actually i thought of Moneypenny right away. Not to mention she is better looking than Samantha Bond.

She's always annoyed me... but I can see what people mean. She was good in Love Actually.

A Cockney Moneypenny? Not quite Fleming's "pearls and twin set set" is it? Pearly King's, yes. Might work, though, if you wanted to redo Bond in the syle of the Seventies Tv series "The Sweeney" with a double-hard, very physical Butler as a real Glaswegian-Jock Bond.#

Who needs Tarantino?

I was very taken by this woman's looks and performance in 'Love Actually'. I suspect she would make a fantastic Moneypenney and she's very, very easy on the eyes.

I can definitely see her in the role. It will be strange to see a (practically) entirely new cast in the next film.

If it's a young Bond, it'll have to be an older Moneypenny for it to work. A 28-year-old Bond flirting with a 28-year-old Moneypenny wouldn't really work. Somehow I always prefer it when Moneypenny's the glacial posh bird Bond is trying to chat up, and he eventually draws a reluctant smile from her. I don't like it when the emphasis is the other way round (as it certainly was in the last film). I suppose it could work several ways. I think Weisz could work, though she sometimes looks very masculine. If someone like Owen or Butler is cast - ie a bit more in the Connery mould - then I'd like to see someone like Emilia Fox:

If they get someone a bit posher, like Jeremy Northam, then I think McCutcheon could work very well, or someone like Amanda Ryan:

If they go for Sir Thomas Bond the younger, then I reckon you need an older woman who Bond thinks he can seduce. Someone like Jenny Agutter:

I think you need to feel that she's not someone Bond would usually go for, and that it will never happen. It's a kind of taboo flirt.

I very much wonder how Jenny Agutter would be in the role. She has that ability in her performance be a push-over, making her very interesting in MI-5.

Rachel Sterling (Diana Rigg's daughter) would make a terrific younger Moneypenny IMHO. Fab actress.

Other than Jenny Agutter, I've never seen nor heard of any of these suggestions so it's hard to give any opinion on them, but I've got my own suggestion for Moneypenny. I think this role requires an understated beauty, intelligence, style, and a subtle sense of humor, and I think Kate Isitt (from Coupling) would fill these qualities beautifully, and add a neurotic flair all her own to Moneypenny.

Good call. :) If you've seen Coupling, you may have seen Emilia Fox, who's appeared in it several times as 'Wilma Lettings'.

How's this? It's from the BBC series TIPPING THE VELVET. Rachael Stirling is on the right, and Keeley Hawes (of SPOOKS/MI5) is on the left.

Now this is only a suggestion....

What about Billie Piper for the role?.She is cute, young(early to mid 20's,24 I think),flirty and would be available as she is to leave Doctor Who(which as a non-DW,non sci-fi fan,I have enjoyed immensely).

And Miss Piper has been a revelation in Doctor Who,far better than most folk thought(she IS a trained actress, long before her days as a teen pop star).......

I LOVE Billie Piper.
I LOVE Rachel Weisz.
Never could stand Martine McCutcheon, though.
Mind you, she was better in Love, Actually than she used to be in EastEnders.
