I brought that up in a post about Brosnan a couple of days ago. As far as I'm concerned, the "Complete James Bond" series runs from 1962-1989, just as AMC advertizes it to be.

Anybody watching the "widescreen" version of DAF that's not actually widescreen?

And they've done some editing, too: when the camera is under water showing Plenty's death, they cut the shot that starts with her face and instead start wtih her torso and pan down to the weight.

It's sad, I sent AMC a nice letter, too, thanking them for showing the Bond films in widescreen and for showing OHMSS four times. Seems I jumped the gun.

That's most annoying.

I was hoping they would put in trivia bits during the widescreen presentation, like they did for some of the other films AMC has screened (called "Much More" movies?).

I like this better than the Spike TV ones. Less commercials and they don't edit out anything.

Give them time and I'm sure they will have something like that. Maybe. Depends on if the next wave of DVD releases have a trivia track or something similar. It would also be a fresh way to get people to watch the films after they burn out a bit down the road.

this marathon is much better than the spike tv marathons, IMO. its much less "the bond films WE like, in no particular order" and more "catch up with james bond, dont worry, were showing them in order."

I remember back when a James Bond marathon on television was an event. Now there is at least one James Bond film per day on television -- and that's not an exaggeration. If they haven't already, the Bond films are going to suffer from severe overkill very soon. It's unfortunate because I remember the excitement that surrounded a Bond film being on television.

Yes, it was a major event in the Flagg household when ABC would air a James Bond film in primetime. I can still hear the announcer's voiceover (Ernie Anderson, I believe). This was in the early-1980s. I also fondly remember HBO's monthly Bond airings of 1980-81, which served as my introduction to the series. I still got excited as recently as the early 1990s when TBS would do it's Bond nights or summer of Bond events.

Those were the best. I remember just flipping through the channels and seeing a Bond film on TV - didn't happen that often when TBS had their marathons. Always a fun event.

I miss the Bond double-headers that Encore was doing on their Encore Action channel in May and June. Those double-headers and the TBS marathons were my favorites as far as having the Bond movies on TV.

Yep, Sony Pictures Television at the very end of them.

Live and Let Diet is on now with my all time favorite Bond Dodger Moored. Ok, I'm kidding. I just have it on for noise.

No, but there was an unusual United Artists logo that also said MGM on it as well I had never seen before. I thought that was interesting.

Wow was that first week suck

Seeing how Connery lived off ripping off Frank Sinatra's Rat Pack Era! Wow that guy has no range, anytime any actor next to him tried to show compasion or possibly show range to the James Bond Character. He gets all stiff like a block of wood. ( I really think he learned to act in the late 1970's & the first time he showed range was in Indiana Jones 3 )

Connery could have never done OYMSS! He could have never shown Bond falling in love OR even falling into like

Plus watching him from Dr.No - Diamonds Are Forever... wow did he fall apart! He turned into a fat pig/old math teacher. Plus Diamonds Are Forever is the opening to the "Camp".

But FINALLY we can see where the Series Started! The Range in the character, The Stunts, The Peak of 007 Crew & The starting of Cubby running it all by himself! IF you like 007, you have to love when The 007 Crew learned what worked in the 1960's & what didn't work in the 1960's. They totally figured it all out in ROGER MOORE's Era!

We had the big 3 (John Glenn, Roger Moore & Cubby) These 3 Men took on EVERYONE in Hollywood in their Prime & held their own! In the Summer, The Original Blockbusters, George Lucas, Steven Speilberg, Star Wars, Raider of the Lost Ark, Eddie Murphy, Sylvester Stallone, Rambo 2, Return of the Jedi, Beverly Hills Cop, Smokey & the Bandit, Flashdance & many many more MAJOR Money Makers! BUT "The Big 3" took them on & held their own! This is when they didn't HIDE James Bond Movies like now! The Roger Era they released the 007 films AGAINST Star Wars! Return of the Jedi! etc,etc,etc!!!

These AMC showings definitely feature the best visual picture I've ever seen for a Bond film on TV. I've been meaning to pop in a dvd simultaneously to compare, because last night watching Live And Let Die, I felt I'd never seen a clearer print.

I quit watching AMC when they had that smirking, scrawny wiseass pretending to be James Bond come on the scene.
