According to the James Bond tailors in London, he has been both the lightest and heaviest of all the James Bonds. The tailors who fitted him for his Bond films state that in his first Bond movie, GoldenEye (1995), he weighed 164 pounds, making him the lightest actor to play Bond. However, in his fourth Bond movie, Die Another Day (2002), he weighed 211 pounds, making him the heaviest actor to play Bond.

i thought this was classic. thats a lot of weight gained in 7 years.

I remember seeing how he'd lost weight for The World Is Not Enough I think.

I doubt all the weight he gained in DAD was muscle. What do you think happened between TWINE and DAD to make him balloon like that?

I would have thought Connery would have had him beat...not necessarily in Diamonds are Forever, but Never Say Never Again. He's the man, but he certainly looked the best in Dr. No.

Well, it was a 3-year gap between TWINE and DAD, as opposed to 2 for his other Bonds.

Did he have to pack on pounds for The Tailor of Panama?

Didn't realized he disliked OHMSS...what a moron :)

Just saw Gobi-1's thread about Brosnan's interview for Entertainment Weekly...he mentioned the movie Evelyn and how that was a good movie to not have to watch his weight (paraphrasing), didn't he make that right before DAD?

I'd bet pots of cash that's complete rubbish.

211? Come on.

Even still, Connery would have been heavier in DAF.

Next time I'm at the tailor's, though, I'll make sure I get weighed.

I'd believe he was the lightest Bond in GoldenEye. However, he looks much lighter to me in DAD than Sean did in DAF. I actually thought he looked better as he got a bit heavier. He looked terrific in TND.

Did they include those massive watches he was wearing?

Didn't Brosnan admit that he had gained a lot of weight while filming EVELYN. He made some joking comment about it being too many Guinesses down at the pub.

I seem to remember some rather unflattering pictures back in 2002 of a bloated Pierce Brosnan appearing in the British press.

Really Pierce was virtually unrecognizable he was so overweight.

Those pics were taken after DAD was released, well into 2003.

Some people do gain around 47 pounds in seven years and even more, so it is not entirely ridiculous. For many people, living off of an American diet means turning into a fat pig.

Wow.

I did a Google for "Pierce Brosnan fat".

yeah....

Despite the lack of photographic evidence, I can easily believe Pierce was the lightest Bond. Heaviest? I doubt it, if only because some of the other Bonds are just bigger of build than he. Still, like Shakespeare being gay or Max Factor being a chauvanist, it makes for a good story.

Well, I have seen a fan website that listed

Connery at 177 Dr. No - sounds right Connery was quite lean and slender then
Connery at 196 Diamonds Are Forever - looks heavier than that to me
Connery at 190 Never Say Never Again - didn't they mention in this film that he was "about 6-2 190 pounds"???

Lazenby at 186 On Her Majesty's Secret Service - although I must say he looks to be about 210 in the film to me

Moore at 180 Live and Let Die - looks about right
Moore at 173 The Man With The Golden Gun - sounds right he looked much thinner and Cubby made him diet (he looked about 225 in the Persuaders prior to playing Bond so)

Dalton at 173 The Living Daylights - certainly looks very slim in that one
Dalton at 187 in Licence To Kill - He looks heavier but did he gain that much, in scene with no shirt with Lup he still looked quite thin

Brosnan at 164 in GoldenEye - matches this claim here, and Pierce looked very slim, in fact he didn't look like a toothpick like in Remington Steele, but he still looked skinny for a 6 foot to 6-1 tall guy.

Brosnan at 192 in Tomorrow Never Dies - What I do know is Pierce gave an interview that the Broccoli's ordered him to eat a lot and workout feverishly, he claimed he was working out non stop and gained a ton of mass. Guess this makes sense then? He certainly looked the best in TND by a wide margin body wise I thought.

Brosnan at 185 in The World Is Not Enough - it claims that he lost a bit for this one, not sure here but didn't Pierce say he hated working out and quit???

Brosnan at 211 in Die Another Day - yes this site claimed the same, all I know is Pierce looked huge in that film and looked fat not muscle, he looked like the TND Pierce would seriously tear his DAD self up.

I did a search for Pierce Brosnan 211 pounds and got many results......

Finally though I remember an interview Connery gave back in the early 90's, in it he said he had "ballooned" for DAF. he claimed back in the 70's he "sat around all day, smoked, dranke beer, and just ate non-stop and really got out of shape".

He also said that, "the Bon producers made him diet a lot when they saw him for DAF and that they made me wear packs of ice for hours before shooting my topless scenes to hide my man titties".

He claimed he was up to about 225 then but "they made me diet and drop down 15-20 pounds"....he also said he got to about 190 years laster in his 50's as he turned his lifestyle around.

Basically seems about right then BUT did Connery weigh 225 at the beginning of DAF then go down to 196 or did he get to 196 before?

Also Moore never seemed that heavy as Pierce did in DAD, but it does seem like Lazenby looked 210 area in OHMSS of muscle and Connery looked 210 area in GF/TB to me of muscle again mostly.

211 for Pierce is certianly pushing it to be up there, the 164 seems lightest. Connery in say TB and Lazenby in OHMSS make Pierce seem tiny in GE.
