Anyone else want the movie to be pushed to 2007?

I know that a five year gap between movies is ridiculous, but I think that it would be even more ridiculous to have a Bond movie in 2006 and another in 2008, passing up the once in a lifetime opportunity to release a 007 movie in 2007[COLOR=green]. Can you imagine the ad campaign? I think that it would be good to have the movie released in Early 2007. Also, "7" has proved to be a lucky number for James Bond movies, since all of the James Bond movies released in 1967, 1977 (two seven's= twice the quality), 1987, and 1997 have turned out to be extremely great. They should stick to the trend, instead of breaking the pattern by releasing a movie in 2006 or 2008. While this may mean that CR will be a new and original Bond film, I think that they should play it safe for now. Does anyone else agree with me, or am I delusional for wanting the film postponed even farther?

I would love Casino Royale in 2007 especially on 007/007/2007!

Exactly. I doubt that they would do that though. Why can't they just make a Bond movie every year like they used to do? Why does there need to be a two-three year break in between movies?

how about 1-7-2007? It could bypass all that holiday competition.

Is it just me or do I detect a total lack of enthusiasm by Eon to do basically anything? :)

You know, there are some who say waiting is the best part. And, Taro Todoroki, How can you tell Eon's "lack of enthusiasm" from radio silence? I'd love to know what information you seem to claim to be privy to.

Want Casino Royale pushed to 2007? No.

I would have liked a Bond film in 2005 and 2007.

ON the flip side, a bit gimmicky isn't it? However it would be rather stupid to miss out on this wonderfully gimmicky once-in-a-thousand-year stunt.

Yeah it is just sort of a convenient gimmick. It'd make for easy marketing, and a cute logo on the poster, but other than that, doesn't really mean a whole lot. I'd rather not wait yet another year just for the sake of using the 007 in 2007 angle. But, CR will presumably be out on DVD in 07, so they can use that marketing campaign then.

That's a very good point dinovelvet. They could also do the whole countdown thing, like they did with TWINE. Say that they release it around Christmas, they can just switch the "Countdown to the millenium" gimmick and change it to a "Countdown to the year of 007" or something. Or, they could release it on New Years Eve or New Years Day or something, then have the DVD or something come out on 7/7/2007 (even though that is a long time to wait.)

They should be bombarded with letters or e-mails or something then. It would be one of the biggest mistakes in our lifetime to miss out on an opportunity that only comes once every 1,000 years!

I'm easy on this.

I'd like a 2006 film, but if it has to be 2007 then that's fine by me in these one-off circumstances.

Remember, the difference between Nov-06 and July-07 is only 8 months, not 1 year, if that makes a difference to your opinions.

Even though 7/7/07 would be optimal, I would still prefer a LATE, LATE 2006 release, or a really early 2007 release. This way, all of the holiday movies will be dying out, leaving 007 with little competition at the box office.

Like Die Another Day for example.

That's pretty funny Dunph. We waited three years after that garbage TMWTGG to get the masterpiece TSWLM. We waited 6 years and got GE, (which was sorta worth it.) DAD was just a bad example. CR will most likely be a quality film, and I'd rather wait a few extra months to get a quality movie with a good ad campaign than be impatient and get a crappy one. Remember, if Bond 21 had come out in 2005 like originally planned, then all of this wouldn't even be an issue.

I say have 2 films, both in 2007. One at January and one at November. 007, M, the main villian, the main girl will be the same for both films. I say make it like Kill Bill's but in a Bond style. For example call Bond 21 Casino Royale and Bond 22 Risico.

Dont miss 2-007 Eon. :)

Also dont we all know that January 2006 is the starting of the first film and October 2006 the second one.

Casino Royale will be passing in Britain, France and Prague and Bond22-Risico in Prague and South Africa.

We waited too long, and the public's radar is in the looming new Bond actor revelation. No, 2007 is too long a wait...

Thank you! And please, all fans in favor of 2007, please ask yourself this question: Do we need the most obvious and therefore tiresome promotional tool in order to make the audience go see "CR"?

If "CR" sucks, it

I agree that it's a year that we are missing out on - the 2 007 thing is sort of cool. But this is simply unfortunate - I'd rather have my movie sooner than later.

Give us something else to 'celebrate' 2007.

Personally, the marketing possibilities inherent in releasing a Bond in film in the year 2007 are very uninteresting to me. I am interested in the film. Not so much the marketing thereof. I am dead set against postponing the release just for the sake of making use of the 007 in the year 2007. Even if it were to be released in 2007, I would find it lame, desperate and a bit passe if they were to make excessive hay of some numeric coincidence.

Just my take.

Bottom line: how many more tickets are you going to sell by doing it? Very few, I reckon. Conclusion: it's not worth waiting that long. I think they'd do better to rerelease all the DVDs in a fancy set or something and use it for the marketing there. Or for a Playstation3 game based on OHMSS ('Your mission: to save Mrs Bond!').

Great point. I think the idea of a brand new Bond will draw equal audiences whether in 2006 or 2007.

Why not release in late November 2006 and use 2007 as a new wave of marketing to give the film another boost? Maybe EON isn't so dumb.
